Chapter 334
The day started like almost any other, but after short preparations, I took my friends to the canyon, and, as they started clearing the skied from harpies, I proceeded to leave the geographical formation along with Ki'rai.
We climbed uphill, emerging close to a forest. We entered it and kept walking to the left, without any rush. After around an hour, we found ourselves at the edge, with a vast land full of hills covered by green grass, and some rocks, here and there. With the blue sky above decorated only with a few puffy clouds.
According to the information I had in my head, I was to travel southeast, towards a mountain range, that was now obscured by the uneven ground before us. My friends kept going south according to what they said, and just barely stepped into the giants' territory.
- It's beautiful - said Ki'rai. - I always wanted to come here. There are mountains further. I've seen them while flying around the canyon. I also wanted to go there.
- Let's make it happen then - I said, and started walking.
She followed me. In a clearly good mood, since she soon started skipping, which made me smile. I felt then, that maybe the old days are coming back. Maybe she was feeling a little bit better about what I did.historical
I was thinking about that stuff when the first giant appeared. A towering mass, way bigger than the walking trees, wearing clothes and armed with a club of some sort. I couldn't tell the details because of how far he was. Considering the distance I would give that thing around twenty meters.
- Stay here Ki'rai. I'm gonna go and look at how strong that monster is...
- Ok.
I dropped the big backpack and went jogging at my target. I got spotter relatively late. The clothes were just first, haphazardly stitched together in something that was covering the loins and part of the torso. The club was actually not a club, but just a tree, clearly ripped from the ground, with a broken top, so just the thick trunk remained.
He yelled at me, and started charging, making the ground shake under his feet. For a moment I thought of blasting his head off with a fireball, but then resigned. I needed to get some info if I were to hunt those things, and what's better than a singular sample?
Just one definitely couldn't kill me, but a few dozen possibly could, so I allowed the creature to get closer, and even swing at me, just to avoid the hit by shadow walking out of the way. The tree hit the ground, spraying dirt into the air.
I appeared behind one of its legs and sliced the Achilles tendon. The giant screamed out of pain, and actually collapsed on one of his knees, which was a perfect opportunity for me, to jump on its shoulder. He tried to grab me, but I just shadow walked to the other side and sliced his neck open, then evacuated.
The blood sprayed out of the wound, and the monster turned to smoke after few seconds. I picked the stone, then made my way back to KI'rai.
- So? How was it? - she asked. - From here it looked easy.
- It wasn't that hard actually. They are strong, definitely, but kinda slow, and can't use magic, which makes the fight easier. Taking a hit could be fatal though, so as long as I can avoid those, I should be fine.
- So we are going to hunt here?
- Yep. Let's go - I said picking up the backpack, and using 'Telekinesis' threw the stone inside.
As I found soon, the hills had some giants roaming around, but there weren't that many of them. At some point, we climbed a pretty high one, and from that point, we could see the mountain range outlined miles away. According to my knowledge, the boss lair was somewhere there.
We traveled for some time, reducing that distance, but eventually had to return, because it was time to transport my friends to a different location, so I dropped the anchor, and shadow walked back to the canyon.
They weren't there, so I climbed up to have a look, but unfortunately, couldn't see very much. Ki'rai helped though, turning into the strange flying creature, and quickly found them. We ended up going towards them, to meet faster, then finally returned to the city.
I didn't earn much, just 340 000 points. Mainly because the area was lacking in a cluster of monsters, and there was a lot of strolling around to find the giants involved.
After a very short break for food, I got the crew to lizardfolk settlement, and together with Ki'rai traveled to the ogre cave. Finishing there, I sold the score and returned to earn the class point and get my friends, to yet another spot, the graveyard.
This time I didn't help them, but jumped to the bear territory, to kill the boss quickly, and progress further with the day plan, which involved going to the overgrown forest, returning yet again to the city, and after killing some spiders, just to, at the and of the day, pick my friends up with a short pitstop to kill the last monster of the day.
Overall I managed to earn 21 274 000 more points. I didn't invest them yet, since I needed to think my options through, but was just too tired for that. This time I didn't go drinking with the rest, and just went to wash, fill my stomach, and relax a bit in my room.
I got so used to the hards and busy life, that I started to think, that maybe my habits and some subconscious stupidity were preventing me from just doing some crazy 20 hours per day periods of hunting. I already pulled a few of those, and my body was actually taking them very well.
I started considering that option. That one, and my clothes problem...
The day came to an end with 148 250 829 points remaining on my account, and eighty-two class points.
