Chapter 343
We marched through the orc camp, and people were simply stunned by what they saw. I noticed a couple here and there looking into the tents, clearly fascinated by the orcish, nonexistent culture.
- Are we sure those creatures are not alive, just like us? - I was asked suddenly by the same middle eastern guy I bumped into not too long ago.
- Andy, right?
- Yes.
- We are sure. Not only do they turn to smoke, but they also are just dolls. They look alive and behave pretty close to what alive creatures would behave like, but when you observe them closely enough, you will notice that they are just pretending. Did you fight the goblins yet?
- Yes.
- Did you notice they only charge at you? No thought to their attacks, just mindless fury.
- I thought they are just dumb.historical
- They undoubtedly are, but when you will eventually fight with a bigger group, you will notice they keep fighting to the very last one of them. They never retreat. Even if they were stupid, fear would make them run. At least some of them.
- I didn't fight a large group yet.
- As I said, you eventually will. Not to mention the everyday respawns.
He nodded.
Shortly after the first people entered the cave. Will made one of his swords radiate white light, getting himself a few cheers from the crowd, but that was way too little to make sure nobody in the crowd gets injured, even with the other sources of the light present here and there in the cave. I created a bunch of flame birds to fly above and illuminate the tunnels.
I soon noticed how Andy's eyes were glued to my creations. He obviously was very interested in that.
The rest of our journey progressed rather steadily. We were more like tourists, with people looking curiously around, and checking every corner of the underground complex. Accompanied by the screams and sounds of battle created by the attack crew at the frontlines.
People got especially interested when we arrived at the forges, with the tools around. I noticed grandma peaking some stuff, and putting it on the cart.
Somebody asked her what she is doing.
- Are you a blind young man? I'm obviously taking some of those with us. Who would let perfectly fine tools lay here in waste? You, young people, have no appreciation of things around you. Everything has to be brand new, and have a logo on it. Back in my days...
I'll spare you the rest of the lecture. Just know it was a long one.
Even more, fascination brought the crystals illuminating space. I heard view conversations about checking if those can be sold for points. People were curious, just as we, back then, but the answer was no.
Eventually, we arrived at the spiral staircase. The sounds of explosions shook the entire cave as my friends were clearing the path for us. Those soon died down, with the last few spellcasters, and the road to the boss was open.
The whole crew emerged from the underground.
- Time for you, Peter-san - said Nobuo.
I noticed a slight smirk on his face.
- Ok - I said, and went to pick my pudao, which I left on one of the carts to not carry it around since there was no reason to do it.
Whispers went through all the crowd, as most of the eyes were tracking my moves.
- Can we watch it? - asked somebody from the crowd as I reached the staircase.
- Sure - answered Will.
This way the whole bunch followed few meters after me, as I was going down, still talking among themselves. Evidently curious about what I can do in battle.
I arrived at the door soon after and pushed them open, then slowly approached the hole boss was sitting in. He rose up from his throne and went to pick up his weapon, embedded in the floor, in the middle of the little arena.
I peeked behind me, at people crowded in the door, to look. Some of them went even inside, but nobody crossed the line of my friends, standing on guard.
- Fuck him up! - shouted Sanders.
- Sure...
- I was actually talking to the orc - he said with a wide smile.
I shook my head and jumped down. The boss immediately leaped at me, with the giant cleaver high above his head. I dodged with ease, although the impact was tremendous, and shadow walked behind him, to hick him, and send him flying.
I was about to blast him with few fireballs, but then I realized such a move would end up badly because that would consume a lot of oxygen from the air.
Instead, I send few shards of ice, then leaped myself, to finish him off with a clean cut.
That was the end of the fight. I went to pick up the stone, as everybody silently watched me in awe. Then I shadow walked back to the group.
- Nice - said Sanders.
- How about we go to the next location? - proposed Will. - This time though I would appreciate it if you wouldn't kill the boss by yourself, and let somebody else from our little audience have the class point.
This made me realize that I was supposed to just wear down the orc and not kill.
- Oh shit. Sorry about that...
- You need to learn about flexing, Peter - said Martin with a big smile. - I can teach you.
And he actually flexed his biceps. We couldn't see them because of the armor, but there was a distinct noise indicating the pressure from the inside on the plates.
- That's definitely a lesson I need in my life - I said with obvious irony.
I doubt he got that, though. He wasn't a simpleton by any means, but I noticed he tended to ignore the taunts from others.
- It will be fun - he said and slapped me on my back. I stumbled few steps forward.
- Gather people! We are moving to a different spot! - yelled Will.
