Chapter 809 T.D.O.N.B: Re-Discovery
I started my day shortly after midnight and did a whole clear of the twelve new territories gathering crystals worth 346 724 000 points. When I returned the evening already began, and the rest of the hunters, including my family, was already in the city center, splitting their score. They all seemed tired, but I saw glimpses of humor popping up here and there. Some jokes or maybe funny stories were shared around.
The stuff from the previous day, the tables, big umbrellas, and all the chairs, were still there but pushed slightly to the side, so they wouldn't block the main paths.
When I got closer, waving to Celestine and the kids, I realized that I was wrong. Those people weren't happy because somebody said something silly, they were excited about something.
I soon learned about what, when Tihana and John approached me.
- We want to try and kill the orc boss - she said straight up.historical
- We think we are strong enough - the brat added.
I rolled my eyes.
- We talked about this, didn't we? When I have some time, then I'll go - I replied to them.
- You just upgraded the device, and did a whole run around the new places - Tihana pointed out. - If you don't have time now, you won't have time for the next year. Just...
- Think of this as a form of vacation - John said, putting on a smile.
For a moment I wanted to blast him in the face, so he would lose those perfect white teeth.
There was something in what he said, though. I really wanted a break. I really wanted to spend some more time with my family, in a proper manner. Not eating dinner and breakfast with them, because that's what was happening lately.
On the other hand, I was soo close to starting to produce golems, which would, possibly, turn the whole situation around, and I fucking couldn't wait. I had this itch in my whole body to end the grind. To finish the work, and rest, all happy with what I've accomplished.
I ended up rolling my eyes.
- Fine. I'll go with you tomorrow - I said.
- Good, because I already told everybody you're coming - Tihana said and smiled at me.
Is it weird that it made me want to punch John even more?
"Just a quick slap, and you will walk away. Nobody will even see", some thoughts popped into my head. "You can't take this shit from those brats!"
But then, from the corner of my eye, I caught Leonel speaking with some other people. He seemed soo excited. It made me decide to just accept this situation. There was something in me, that, I believe, was a fatherly instinct, to show my fake son how awesome I am.
Because I already had a good idea about how this whole thing could end. With me stepping up and saving the day once again.
With those thoughts, I went to the device to sell my crystals, for the price mentioned before. It put my account balance at 375 710 200 regular points and 4 027 class points.
I upgraded all the 'Master of automaton creation' to the fifth level for 66 666 00 points, which left me with 309 044 200. It was a lot, but I decided to save it to get the class upgraded fully, then get a few skills from the next evolution, and finally, begin my work.
When I finished the shopping, I noticed that the people started once again moving the tables and umbrellas to have a good time in the city center before calling it a day. Since my whole family was there, I decided to join instead of going home to socialize a little, and spent with them some time.
Celestine was helping to move chairs too, so I helped her, and we ended up sitting by the same table with Lucas and Marvin.
We got some beers, and snacks, and relaxed a little.
In no time the former firefighter began telling us some funny stories from before his accidents. I'm not gonna lie, they were hilarious. Then, in a kinda natural way, the topic switched to hunting.
The guys bragged for a moment about how they were handling orcs those days.
- And how are you doing? - Marvin suddenly asked my wife. - You did another route around the closest places, didn't you?
She blushed immediately, which made me curious.
- I just had my first solo fight with the werewolf - she confessed.
- You have to tell us all about this! - Lucas demanded.
He peaked at me with the corner of his eyes, but since I didn't show any motions on my face, I guess he felt confident to push her to spill the beans.
- I usually defend, and let the kids chip away on the werewolf while I make sure they are safe - she told me. But today I wanted to check if I can kill the beast by myself. I recently went more into upgrading the skills of a paladin class, so I can make my sword cut better, and it works really well on the beast.
- Yeah. I remember every fight with that thing being quite bloody - Marvin agreed. - We had to hack this thing to shreds.
- Leonel and Carmalita both can use fire, so we usually burn toe wounds so there isn't that much blood, and the beast can't regenerate too effectively. But with my new blade, I was able to cut its head off. I first tacked one leg, and when the werewolf was limping I jumped and swung with all my strength - she said all excited, swinging her hands like she was holding the sword.
She almost knocked the stuff from the tabletop. I found it adorable. She on the other hand quite embarrassed when she realized how excited she got.
The guys didn't bother her about that at all. Probably because of me. Lucas swiftly switched the topic to tell us how the fights with orcs were going for them lately.
We talked a lot, and for the first time in a while, I felt great about everything I've accomplished so far. Petrograd was doing what it was built for. Changing people's lives.
The purpose, which got all blurry in my eyes, was now once again clearly visible. I knew that soon I was gonna change everything once again, and will be able to enjoy myself in my own city. All I needed was to push for a few more days, then the construction would begin. I already had it all materialized in my head.
