Chapter 137 Subtly
By the time Luo Xiaolei was back inside Yu Chen’s room, Gu Wei immediately excused himself and left.
The room went completely silent as Luo Xiaolei walked closer to the man on bed. When she saw him moved and was about to help himself sit up, Luo Xiaolei’s eyes turned wide and she leapt forward and held him down.
"Yu. Chen. You are not allowed to sit up just yet." Her eyes were narrowed. She looked very strict but obviously worried.
With a slight frown, Yu Chen stared at her quietly until the girl released him from her grip.
"You have to rest and you have to avoid moving as much as you can, okay?" Luo Xiaolei’s voice became gentle again as she smiled at him.
"I’m fine now. You don’t have anything to worry about."
As soon as those words left Yu Chen’s lips, Luo Xiaolei’s smile slowly faded. She didn’t know why but she didn’t like how emotionless he sounded as he said those words. She felt as though he was not taking his condition seriously and that the state he was in right now didn’t even matter.
His seemingly lack of concern about his own health made Luo Xiaolei feel somewhat upset.
"You’re fine? Really? Do you want to know how you look like? Let me tell you! You look like a starved vampire, no, you could even be mistaken as a white lady right now, you hear me?!" Luo Xiaolei suddenly burst. This was the first time she felt this mad at Yu Chen. And what she just said were partly lies. Well, even though Yu Chen was extremely pale, he was still looking devastatingly beautiful. He actually looked even more unreal now, as if he was really a vampire that had just woke up from a thousand years of sleep.
Aside from the information Luo Xiaolei learned from Yang Jin, she also researched a lot this past two days while waiting for Yu Chen to wake up so Luo Xiaolei was now quite knowledgeable about Yu Chen’s condition. Yang Jin also told her that Yu Chen’s bleeding disorder was the result of the repeated severe injuries he suffered since he was young because of his inability to feel pain and Luo Xiaolei couldn’t even begin to describe how she felt. She had understood just how dangerous and deadly his condition was and that any time, something could go wrong and he wouldn’t even realize it.
This was why Luo Xiaolei couldn’t relax. She was worried and uneasy. At the same time, she couldn’t help but blame herself for putting him in this grave danger. She was the reason why he was hurt and yet she could do nothing for him but watch.
"I’m sorry, I’m just..." Luo Xiaolei bit her lips as her gaze dropped on the floor.
After another short moment, Yu Chen, who was silenced for a long while now finally made a move. He reached out his hand, his eyes were fixed on Luo Xiaolei’s face with an unfathomable expression. He opened his mouth but before he could say anything, Luo Xiaolei spoke first, her voice suddenly became emotional.
"Why? Why did you risk your life for me?" she uttered, still looking on the floor, her voice so weak it was almost a whisper.
But Yu Chen seemed to have heard her clearly and his outstretched hand halted midair. His face slightly dimmed and his eyes suddenly burned with something inexplicable.

When Luo Xiaolei felt that the room’s temperature seemed to have dropped, she raised her eyes and as soon as their eyes met, she almost gasped because she realized that she actually blurted those words out loud. ’Oh no! He obviously heard what I said, right?’
Luo Xiaolei opened her mouth again, wanting to say something but this time, she couldn’t get anything out. Now she didn’t know what to say. She didn’t mean to ask that question right now even though she’s been wondering about it since that day. Yet her tongue actually betrayed her.
"Luo Xiaolei..." finally, the man spoke. His brows were still pulled together as he frowned hard.
Luo Xiaolei subconsciously gulped as she waited for what Yu Chen would say next.
"Please come closer." He said, causing Luo Xiaolei to blink three times. She was obviously a bit confused but she bent over anyway. Thinking that the man would want to whisper in her ear.
However, what she was expecting didn’t happen. The man’s hand was suddenly at the back of her neck, pulling her closer to him.
Luo Xiaolei’s eyes widened again. When their faces were now just a foot apart, Luo Xiaolei’s palm landed on his face, covering his mouth. ’Wait, wait, wait. What’s going on? Could it be that he actually didn’t hear what I said? But his expression just now is... was I wrong?’
"Uhm... Yu Chen, didn’t I tell you, kissing is banned until you recover?" she said, her voice sounded stern again.
"I’m not trying to kiss you." he replied, his eyes were now innocent, as if what she observed a while ago, including the chilling sensation she felt from him were just some illusion.
"D-d-don’t lie. You were trying to kiss me just now." Luo Xiaolei insisted.
Yu Chen: "..."
"Okay, time for you to rest or else Dr. Yang will come and sedate you."
Yu Chen: "...!!"
Yu Chen could only look at Luo Xiaolei, speechless. And then he quietly averted his gaze and stared at the window without saying anything.
Looking at him, Luo Xiaolei couldn’t help but imagine an unwell chibi panda sulking and looking dejected, and her conscience couldn’t take it. ’Ah, this man is using his beauty trap again, right?’
Luo Xiaolei tried to resist him. And the man just laid there like an obedient kid, not closing his eyes. He didn’t look at her again.
Luo Xiaolei didn’t stop glancing at him. The silence lingered.
After a long time, one of them finally gave in. Luo Xiaolei stood from her seat and moved closer to him.
"Okay, what is it? You said you’re not planning to kiss me... what were you trying to do then?" she asked and the man finally looked at her. His expression didn’t change but the corner of his lips lifted subtly.
