Chapter 244: You have to prove it.
historical
"I am apologizing because I really do like you and I want us to be lovers." Camilla said after she mustered confidence.
".." For a moment Blake was stunned by Camilla's sudden confession because he had in no way expected that.
Looking at Camilla, Blake saw that her head was lowered to avoid eye contact. Her smooth face had turned beet-red and her fingers didn't stop moving around.
'Seems like her seductive acts is how she masks true nature. Right now she reminds me of a less shy version of Tessie.' Blake thought.
"Your first reason is horse shit." Blake said causing Camilla to look up. "The problem with you nobles is that you all think that all that matters is power and wealth. So all those lacking any or both of them are not considered humans."
"If it was another commoner that saved your lives, will you thank him or feel disgusted?" Blake said. I don't care much about what is going on between the nobles and commoners, but think of it.
"Commoners can't harm or rival you nobles in both wealth and power, and will not, even if given the power. It is only when they were treated like shit that the thought of revenge will come into thought." At this point, Blake took in deep breaths to calm himself down.
"The only reason I can think of is that nobles are afraid that the commoners will rise and crush if they were left to grow. That is why they keep on scheming to stunt their growth, but that brings us to the question. Why don't you just treat them right and avoid the inevitable destruction from their uprising?" Blake said.
Infinite realm was meant to be a world ruled by the strong no matter the race or background, but the nobles had reconfigured it in such a way that only those with a certain background were allowed to rule.
"As for your proposal, let me ask you 1 question. Why should I trust you after you have been against me on multiple occasions? Besides, you are a top noble and I am a commoner?" Blake asked as he stared into her eyes.
"You know I am sincere. You can see it in my eyes."?Camilla said as her eyes were beginning to tear up.
"Even if I could see it in your eyes. It doesn't mean that all the times you have wronged me will automatically be erased. You have to prove it." Blake said as he kept a straight face.
"Are you saying you don't like me?" Camilla asked to confirm as tears rolled down her eyes.
"I never said that, right now I am not sure if I like you or not. All along you have been giving me a reason not to. So all I am saying is for you to give me a reason to like you." Blake said.
".." Camilla was silently sobbing as she was trying to think of a reason, but after a while of silence, she concluded that there was none.
"Thank you for making me realize a lot of things." Camilla said with a forced smile before she left Blake.
Due to being one of the most beautiful nobles in the empire, she has been receiving a lot of proposals from nobles and even commoners who couldn't control themselves and were stupid to propose to her. Ultimately they had all been rejected, but right now she truly understood how every one of them felt.
What hit her the most was that all this would have been avoided and Blake would have most probably liked her from the beginning if she wasn't like other nobles.
[I saw what you did there, I must say you are truly evil.] The system said as they both watched Camilla sobbing as she left the area.
Blake hadn't outrightly rejected her, but he made her feel bad about herself, before making her feel indebted to him.
Although she was meant to feel bad and indebted. The speech he gave about the nobles would more than double how bad and indebted she felt. So right now, he was looking forward to her turning a new leaf and doing a lot of crazy things to prove herself.
'I don't like seeing a damsel in distress or even cause distress to one, but it had to be done.' Blake said to the system.
(AN: Out of Camilla and Tessie, who do you guys think deserves Blake? The first to have feelings for him (Camilla), but had some clashes with him because of her family or the one that has been true to him from the moment they met?)
'Love is blind.' Blake thought as he turned and went to his room.
When Blake got to his room, after some seconds of thinking of something to keep himself busy, he decided to get some more rest.
"So what do you think about the investigation?" Blake asked the system as he lay on the bed.
According to what Luciano and the rest had told him. The mind-controlled nobles were interrogated, but they had no memories of the pieces of jewelry and had no idea it was even on them.
It sounded unbelievable, so the ash corps used the power of a demi-god lumomancer to gain access into their memories and it turned out that they were speaking the truth. They had no idea of how they got in possession of the jewelries and it was as if they were not there whenever they looked at it.
[It's most likely that directly or indirectly (their consent or them being forced by their parents) they had agreed to the assassination, but they had no idea of how it was going to happen.] The system said. [Since no one important apart from the mind-controlled nobles died and the fact that there are top nobles involved, they weren't punished in any way.]
"If Luciano happened to have died. The royal family would have been the only top noble family left." Blake shivered when he thought of the amount of blood that would have been shed.
