Chapter 2107: God’s Tomb

Aooooooouuu.

A long howl cut through the depths of the night, resulting in a rapid recession of the ghost zombie tide.

“What’s going on?” His wonderful time of slaughter cut short, Lu Yun paused and looked into the distance. Two dots of black light flashed through his eyes as he scanned everything within five thousand kilometers.

Death art, Spectral Eye!

The death arts began recovering after he reached an external circulation of heaven and earth. Of them, the Spectral Eye was the first to come back.

Ghost zombies teemed within five thousand kilometers, their origins unknown. It seemed like they’d always been there. They shambled around aimlessly when they didn’t sense the presence of living things, but snapped into a berserk rage the moment they did.

As he watched, Lu Yun saw an unlucky wild beast being dug up from the ground and torn to pieces. It was so unlucky that it didn’t even have a chance to turn into a ghost zombie before it was eaten.

The Spectral Eye couldn’t reach further than that, but Lu Yun could clearly sense an incredibly strong existence in that direction. The howl emanated from it and was calling all of the ghost zombies to it in frenzied motion.

“Is it another ghost zombie?” Lu Yun frowned, unable to see the thing but able to hear the sound it emitted.

The ghost zombies attacking Jingzhou City had swiftly disappeared and congregated in the direction five thousand kilometers away. Extreme curiosity danced in his heart.

“I’m going to take a look and see what’s happening.” He turned around to face a blankly staring Yuan Yi on the wall.

“Oh, okay,” she nodded subconsciously. “Be careful.”

Lu Yun was already gone.

“Has he.. really repaired the city’s formation?” She slapped herself hard across the face, trying to determine if she was dreaming or not.

“Teacher.” Next to her, Wang Shu also asked in an incredulous voice, “Are the ghost zombies not breaking in tonight?”

“Not just tonight, but all the nights from now on. They will not be ravaging our home ever again.” A smile blossomed on Yuan Yi’s face. The defensive formation had become a formation of heaven and earth with an internal circulatory system of its own. It needed no energy source and could operate eternally so long as its foundations weren’t ruined.

She didn’t know how to view this change in circumstance.

“Let’s do our best in cultivation,” Yuan Yi smiled. “Hope is needed in this land.”

“Okay!” Wang Shu nodded emphatically.

When Yuan Yi looked down at the boy, she thought back to how her teacher had picked her out of the crowd and taught her everything she knew. Her teacher had wanted her to protect this city. She, however, wanted Wang Shu to protect hope.

....

The night was pitch black; the nights of this world seemed to run particularly dim. Lu Yun wouldn’t be able to see the way if not for the Spectral Eye.

“Five thousand meters to the southeast..” He took out the map that Yuan Yi had given him and took his bearings, studying what the map depicted. It was from very long ago, when the world was still alive. Although it’d been so long, its major topographical features were yet to change.

“God’s Tomb?!” His eyes widened when he saw a landmark in the direction he was heading towards.

God’s Tomb!

The only characters for that landmark, there was no further indication as to what they might refer to. However, Lu Yun noticed that he could read the written language of the map.

“It looks like the civilization in the nothing stems from the mistress, Dao King, and God. It’s an extension of the civilization in this world.”

The label of God’s Tomb made him very uncomfortable. Was it really God’s tomb?

“So did God die once before in the past? Is he dead or alive right now? Or is this another God’s tomb?” Although questions swirled in his mind, Lu Yun kept up the pace. He exerted himself with the Boundless Step and soon arrived at God’s Tomb.

The howl continued to ring through the land and ghost zombies were gathered here, piled atop of one another as if they were protecting something. The characters of God’s Tomb were carved into a towering mountain in scarlet font. They dripped with blood, but the blood within the characters had dried up.

“Whatever it is, it’s inside the tomb.” Lu Yun looked at the mountain in front of him. Roughly five thousand meters across, it was a singular mountain rather than a mountain range. If it wasn’t for the characters carved into it, there would be nothing special about it. He could see the layouts around the mountain, but they were dead.

Feng shui layouts were nurtured by heaven and earth. Feng shui and formation were two sides of the same coin. They were the same, yet also not the same.

Formations were an active existence that required someone to set up so they could release their power. Feng shui was a passive existence that heaven and earth took control of once it came into being. There was no need for anyone to activate it. Once it started operating, no one could stop it unless it broke.

One way to stop feng shui layouts from operating was to kill heaven and earth. These layouts around the mountain had stopped because the world was dead. The remaining vestiges of heaven and earth were insufficient to power their operations.

“The layouts outside aren’t operating, but the ones inside the tomb are! They’re still deploying their full force! There’s power of heaven and earth inside the tomb!” Lu Yun lit up. The power of the world wasn’t in the skies, but in the tomb!

Endless ghost zombies crawled over the mountain, cocooning it with protection. The tomb proper could be found beneath the mountain. Apart from the summons that was the howl, there were also waves of faint trembling coming from beneath the mountain.

Something seemed to be ramming the inside of God’s Tomb.

“Let’s go take a look!” Lu Yun itched for action. He’d analyzed the layout in front of him—although it wasn’t operating, the ones inside were. He could use the ones outside to deduce certain facts from the ones inside.

It was a dual layered layout that he’d never seen before, but he could use their way of assembly to determine their use and power.

With the establishment of an external circulation of heaven and earth, so did formula dao come back to him.
