Chapter 2132: Zero Times and Infinite Times
Based on the division of immortal dao cultivation levels, Motong’s strength was also denoted as immortal emperor. She also grasped a complete circulation of the world.
Instead of an external circulation of heaven and earth similar to Lu Yun’s, hers was one similar to the Inferno city lord. It was a world of darkness composed of dark origin force.
Motong was weaker than Inferno because the late city lord possessed a city. If he didn’t, he would be on par with Motong. But even with the degree of strength she possessed, she still wasn’t a core member of the Saviors. Of course, neither was Inferno important to the city lords either. He also didn’t have the right to enter the grouping of cities.
It was thus apparent just how terrifyingly strong the nothing was, and how prosperous the great world must’ve been when it still existed. In the same vein, it illustrated how horrific the ancient tomb that’d destroyed the world was.
“It looks like the newly born immortal dao isn’t detailed enough. Its cultivation levels are neither thorough nor comprehensive enough for the nothing.” Lu Yun ignored Motong and thought over his great dao.
Immortal emperor was the final cultivation level of the new immortal dao, but the variations within this cultivation level were a bit too large. Someone like the Blazemountain city lord was an immortal emperor, but so was someone like Motong, one who could twist the city lord’s head off with a single hand.
The difference between the two was more than heaven and earth.
Of course, another reason for the gap between them was that Motong commanded a world of darkness. However, Lu Yun could tell that she hadn’t called upon it when she yanked Blazemountain’s head off. The city lord had fully recovered from her injuries then; her city had also been fully repaired.
He could see through the past and future in his current state. There was no sense of time in the nothing, so his level of cultivation fully imparted what’d happened to the Blazemountain city lord before her death.
A living being could defend itself against such scrutiny, but a dead corpse absolutely couldn’t.
Lu Yun could also see what the Inferno city lord had experienced throughout his life, but the young man couldn’t be bothered. He’d refined the city lord’s memories, so anything he wanted to know was accessible with a single thought.
It consumed considerable energy to peer into a corpse’s past and future, but something such as refining memory could be done through the power of reincarnation.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Motong closely assessed the mysterious young man. He looked to be eighteen years old and clean-shaven. There wasn’t any hint of dejection or dispiritedness on him. Rather, there was a vibrant force of energy.
It was so similar to how she’d been back in the day. She’d risen from a small world and defended against an attack from a city of nothing. She’d led the beings of her tiny world onto a path called hope.
But in the end, reality smacked her firmly across the face. Her home was destroyed, her friends and family dead in the disaster. They were turned to ghost zombies and her world surrounded by countless cities of nothing. In the end, it was refined into a brick.
She was the only one left, so she joined the Saviors.
However, she also knew full well that the homeless Saviors scurrying for shelter in the nothing were a bunch of unfortunate souls who’d lost everything. They swore to recover the worlds and save all of life, but they couldn’t save even themselves.
As opposed to saying they were the Saviors, it would be more accurate to call them the Avengers.
Recover the worlds? That was the wish of the first batch of heavyweights who’d survived the destruction of the original world. Those of them from the small worlds just wanted revenge against the cities of nothing, so Motong had twisted Blazemountain’s head off her head as soon as she saw the city lord.
She’d ripped off the heads of countless city lords in her time, and now she saw in Lu Yun who she’d originally been. The same vigorous zest for life and full of hope, while Motong saw only darkness at the end of her life.
“What do you want me to say?” Lu Yun cocked his head. “Who the undercover spy among the Saviors is?” He thought for a bit and said with resignation, “Inferno’s level was too low. He only knew that there was at least one undercover spy or traitor among the Saviors. He didn’t know who.”
Inferno may be ashes, but Lu Yun possessed all of his memories. The young man stood up and manifested the world of purple thunder and lightning. He was going to use its power to destroy Inferno.
“What are you doing?” Motong asked.
“I’m going to destroy the city, of course.” Lu Yun flicked a sidelong glance at her.
“But it possesses the core essence of a world!” she quickly said. “It can be infused into a small world and help it grow into a medium sized one!”
“But..” Lu Yun drew the word out. “The bricks of this city are ashes of the dead.”
Motong blinked.
“I also wanted to use these cities to strengthen the worlds at first, I didn’t want to waste a single iota of energy.” Lu Yun quirked his lips in a smile. “But I’d be polluted too if I do that.”
“Polluted?” Motong gaped at Lu Yun.
“Yes,” he nodded. “I don’t mind reusing things, but this trash contains more than just the remains of the dead—it also contains the strength of the ghost zombies. If the power of heaven and earth from a city of nothing is incorporated into a world, then the world will be truly ruined.
“Not just the world, but the hearts and souls of the people as well.”
The difference between some things was zero times and infinite times.
Cities of nothing were built from refined bricks of small worlds. If Lu Yun refined a city, his heart and soul would be affected. When he could no longer use the cities to strengthen the worlds, he would cast his eyes on other small worlds.
He would then slowly become another city lord.
Motong looked at him with sudden enlightenment. If it wasn’t for countless cities of nothing mobbing her home when it existed, then she might have eventually walked down that path.
“Did you see all of this from the Inferno city lord’s memories?” she asked with a dry voice.
“The Inferno city lord’s level is too low, I need to refine more powerhouses to know more.” Lu Yun stomped the city to pieces with one foot and churned the fragments into shards with thunder and lightning.
“Isn’t there only zero times and infinite times when it comes to refining living beings?” Motong looked at Lu Yun with a trace of horror.
“Indeed,” he nodded with a smile. “That’s how I’ve made my way here. Although many people call me a saint, I’m really not a good guy. If need be, I’ll refine even you Saviors.”
He smiled an utterly innocent smile and spoke in a very gentle tone, but the hair rose on the back of Motong’s neck.
