Chapter 618
Chapter 618
“Loki! Stop lying to yourself! This false life isn’t what you want!” Thor persuaded.
“The life I want? You ruined it a long time ago! The life I want no longer exists as soon as Odin watched me fall into the void!” Loki shouted angrily. “You want to know what life I wanted, Thor? I want Asgard’s throne! I want to be the true King of Gods! Will you give me the life I want now?” Loki asked tauntingly.
“If that really is what you want, then I would be glad to give it to you,” Thor said with a smile on his face. He was indignant about the throne as he knew that it didn’t matter who was sitting on the throne as long as they held the Asgardian Code to heart.
But Loki was startled by Thor’s willingness to give up the throne. It was like his effort all this time didn’t matter at all! But honestly, Loki himself didn’t really care about the throne. The only thing that mattered the most in his life was earning Odin’s recognition. All he wanted was for Odin to praise him sincerely as a father would to his beloved son! But instead, all his life Odin never really batted an eye towards him, and it was all Thor! Every speech that Odin gave to the public was always praising Thor!
This was the insecurity that Loki carried from his childhood. The sense of unworthiness and lack of love from his father! But Loki could never admit that to Thor, so he only acted tough like always. “Very well, I can’t wait for my coronation!” Loki said casually. But then again, Thor noticed that there was something Loki wanted to say, but Thor didn’t push for it as he knew that his brother wasn’t someone who would speak his mind carelessly. In fact, Thor always thought that the title of King of Asgard wasn’t something that he should wield. It was always a title that fit Loki the most, and he already thought about it from his childhood!
“Let’s go back to Asgard for now. Would you like to say goodbye to your follower first? Your highness King of the Gods, Loki?” Thor said jokingly.
Loki suddenly felt embarrassed after his dress-up game. He was ashamed that he ever thought of disguising himself as the King of the Gods! But then again, he wouldn’t talk about it to anyone! He still acted tough despite his shortcomings. “Sure, I think I should say something to them. After all, they have worked hard for me this past couple of months.” Loki said indifferently.
Ignoring Loki’s speech, Thor turned his attention to Dio once again. “I am going back to Asgard with Loki. Would you like to come with me? I believe father would like to see you there too.” Thor asked expectantly. Dio thought about it for a second and refused. He knew that it was the moment where Odin looked back to all he had done for his sons. It was the time for Odin to reconnect and told his son everything that he ever felt. Dio wouldn’t want to intrude on such a family moment.
Furthermore, after Odin’s death, Hela would immediately return to Asgard. But Dio wasn’t so sure about Hela as he didn’t know how Odin sealed Hela in the first place. In the movie that he watched in the past, Hela came to Earth right after Odin has died, and hadn’t it been for Loki’s portal, Hela wouldn’t have come to Asgard so soon like that! Right now, there were two possibilities that might happen, either Hela would still come to Earth as her exiled dimension was connected to Earth, or she would appear wherever Odin had died!
If the second possibility turned out to be what would happen, then it was understandable that Odin was so easily persuaded by Loki to come to Earth as Odin was the only one who knew Hela’s circumstances. Thus, if Odin wanted to give Asgard a chance, it was common knowledge to get Hela away from Asgard! He knew that Hela would be unstoppable as soon as she got to Asgard, and on Earth, she didn’t have her full power.
Maybe that was why Odin didn’t tell Thor about Hela until his last moment. He wanted Thor to get stronger before he went against her. He wanted Thor to have a chance to win. However, Hela’s power was beyond what Odin had imagined as she could easily shatter Mjolnir with one hand!
But now that Dio had changed the original story, there was no way he could predict the future anymore. Firstly, Loki didn’t disguise himself as Odin and took Asgard’s throne for himself. Instead, he ran away to Egypt, leaving everything behind.historical
So, Odin didn’t have any reason to come to Earth anymore. Therefore, Dio wasn’t really sure where Hela would appear. It could still be Earth, or she could appear on Asgard! If Hela appeared on Earth, not only Asgard would be in danger, but the Earth as well since Hela could possibly wreak havoc on Earth to find her way to Asgard.
But the good news was that everyone had a chance to stop Ragnarok from happening! As long as Hela could be sealed once more, the Ragnarok would never have to happen. Now, the only thing that Dio should think of was whether he could win against Hela or not as the way things were right now, he wasn’t even sure he could win against her.
If Hela appeared on Asgard, there would be no meaning in thinking about it as Hela would have her full power back! The only thing that would stop her then was just ensuring that Ragnarok happened faster with feeding the Eternal Flame to Surtur’s crown.
That was also one of the reasons why Dio rejected Thor’s offer to come to Asgard as he wanted to see where Hela would appear. If she appeared on Earth, Dio would need to give everyone some time to make sure that they had a fighting chance. If Hela appeared on Asgard, Dio’s existence on Asgard itself wouldn’t matter.
But as soon as Thor and Loki went to Asgard with the Bifrost, Dio was left with kneeling peoples all around him, praising him as the gods as they saw him talk casually with Thor and could even overpower Loki, their god.
Dio felt extremely ashamed and left without saying anything. Indeed, the power to brainwash people’s minds was a scary thing!
