Ascending the Heavens as an Evil God

Chapter 458: Goro’S Whereabouts

The Night King was quite a famous Star Ruler in the Myriad Heavens, having made a legendary reputation for himself 7,000 years ago, only to fall quickly afterwards.

He didn't die at the hands of his enemies but lost to the Great Dao—back then, the Tier 10 Night King failed in the final step of breaking through to Unified Dao.

After the Night King, no other famous cultivators using the law of “night” appeared in the Myriad Heavens, so the person who obtained the Blade of Night had no choice but to sell it to this side.

Perhaps some weaker Star Rulers who just entered that realm might have the right law, but they couldn't afford the exorbitant price.

"Perhaps this blade was also the reason Goro fell out with Lewis's former subordinates," Gu Nan said with a smile, already imagining the big drama that happened.

Lewis was already a Tier 10 god himself, so he had very little need for the Blade of Night. There was an 80% chance that he bought this blade for Goro as a way of roping him into his faction.

"Exactly." Daoist Lingyang also added, "That's why Goro openly set out to steal it. In any case, Diana hasn't paid for it yet."

"But Diana doesn't want to give up that blade," Sylvia said stiffly from the sidelines.historical

Of course she was siding with her friend. From Diana’s point of view, she didn’t care about all these reasons—all she knew was that someone had stolen her stuff.

Unlike Sylvia, Diana was definitely a god with a very good social network.

She belonged to the Light Faction, but because of the nature of her own laws, she also had friendships with many Dark Faction gods. Goro stealing her item was akin to stirring up a hornet's nest.

Sylvia wanted to help, but Goro's strength grew too fast and was probably almost at Tier 7 by now. She wasn't sure she could handle Goro, so she wanted to invite Gu Nan and Daoist Lingyang to join her.

"If you guys have locked onto Goro's location and need anything from this old Daoist, just say the word," Daoist Lingyang was a good person, so he naturally wouldn’t refuse such an easy request.

Rather, it was Gu Nan's reaction that was somewhat out of their expectations.

"How can you guys leave me out?" Gu Nan’s expression seemed to indicate he was honor-bound to do this. "As long as there are any traces of Goro, please be sure to notify me. I will help confirm Goro’s whereabouts."

Daoist Lingyang stared at Gu Nan strangely. In his impression, Gu Nan didn't seem like someone with an overwhelming sense of justice at all.

Sylvia, on the other hand, was happy. She was too lazy to think about Gu Nan’s actual motives; she was just satisfied with his statement.

"Excellent! Diana is trying to organize gods who are willing to contribute. Do you want to come along?"

Gu Nan nodded vigorously. "Naturally."

....

Daoist Lingyang sent Lan Si and her group away. Along with Xie Yun and Liang Ruxin, they returned to the Myriad Heavens.

Gazing at their departing figures, the now younger-looking Daoist Lingyang revealed a thoughtful expression.

Gu Nan never actually had any intention of hiding his actions from Daoist Lingyang and even asked for Daoist Lingyang’s help when tasking Lan Si with finding that list of mortals.

Especially after learning that Gu Nan's goal was to hunt gods, Daoist Lingyang felt more and more puzzled.

He couldn't figure out how Gu Nan's actions would help him accomplish his goal, not to mention the fact that he actually showed such keen interest after hearing about the Blade of Night.

The fact that Gu Nan then asked him to send Lan Si and the others away undoubtedly meant he saw no need for Lan Si to stay here any longer.

"Could it be that he wants to kill Goro?" Daoist Lingyang thought about it and eventually came up with this conclusion.

Gu Nan's origins had always been mysterious. Perhaps others were afraid of Goro's possible backer, while Gu Nan had no such scruples at all and wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to strike.

Of course, what he didn’t know was that Gu Nan still needed to kill at least two Tier 8 gods. His appetite simply couldn’t be sated with a mere Goro.

....

The Divine Kingdom of Night and Moon.

"I'm very grateful to everyone for coming. The night sides with justice, and the night will remember your help," Diana smiled gently as she thanked the arriving helpers.

This time, ten gods had converged here, and that was just the vanguard responsible for locking onto Goro’s location. Clearly, Diana was very popular.

However, since Diana herself was only a Tier 8 god, there were no characters beyond that level among the people who came to help this time.

Including Gu Nan and Sylvia, there were a total of ten helpers here, and the strongest among them were the three Tier 8 gods.

God of Paper Marshall, God of Recovery Luke, and Sky God Cliff, who had met Gu Nan once before and was also a member of the Heaven-God Alliance.

These three were all gods from the Light Faction. While it showed that Diana was well-liked, it also showed that a divide still existed between gods of different factions.

Cliff was slightly taken aback when he saw Gu Nan and Sylvia, then took the lead in nodding at them in greeting.

"We're all here to hunt down Goro, so let's not be too polite," Paper God Marshall was the first to speak. "Goro undoubtedly stole the Blade of Night for his own enlightenment, leaving us with little time."

With the Blade of Night in Goro's hands, every additional day that passed increased the likelihood of him completely comprehending the law contained in the weapon, and by that time, the weapon will lose some effectiveness even if they manage to recapture it.

It was practically common knowledge that Marshall was a devoted suitor of the Goddess of Night and Moon, so it was easy for him to say the things that were inconvenient for Diana to say.

"That's right, we need to find Goro as soon as possible," Luke, who was on the sidelines, nodded as well.

Luke looked like an uncle with messy hair; the word unkempt was practically made for him.

However, he himself didn't think so and had always regarded his grooming as trendy, believing that he could win some goddesses’ favor with it, and he was likewise Diana's suitor.

If Marshall was a true fan of Diana's, then Luke was purely wooing her to prove his own charms.

The two always liked to follow Diana everywhere, and this time was no exception.

Gu Nan's gaze swept over the two and continued the conversation, "Goro is likely hiding in Atalante."

"How so?" Seeing that a third person had finally spoken up, Marshall didn't want to go toe-to-toe with his old rival at a time like this, so he hurriedly asked while looking at Gu Nan.

Luke also rubbed his disheveled hair and stared at Gu Nan. "Goro is definitely hiding in a main plane—this we all know, but what makes you say he's in Atalante?"

Only the spatial limitations of main planes would make it hard for the gods to quickly find Goro, and they were also the most suitable hiding places. This point needed no further explanation.

But there were so many main planes, and how to determine which one Goro was hiding in became the most important thing.

"Because I saw him there recently," Gu Nan, who’d been staying inside the Luxuriant Blossoms Divine Kingdom all this time, said shamelessly.

"Really?" Diana was instantly pleasantly surprised. It was the best of luck to have a god who had once stumbled upon Goro by chance.

"Of course." Gu Nan smiled inscrutably. "Do I have any reason to lie to you guys?"
