Chapter 424: Diary
Charles soon shifted his attention towards his Inner World and started reading the old goblin's memories.
'Although the old goblin hadn't seen the pioneer knight up front, he heard a lot from his parents. The old goblins called him the Sage, and the whole goblin tribe considered him the savior of their race. The pioneer knight gave them a new home and taught them many things. But some humans didn't like his approach towards the demon monsters and poisoned him.'
'At that moment, the pioneer knight wanted was nothing but a safer place for these demonic monsters. Although they were demon monsters, he honestly considered them as some variants of human beings.'
'So, he created the Ancestral Hall later with the help of his friends and placed the pocket dimension in it. Then, he gave his responsibilities to his descendants, left the Faith Realm, and stayed in the pocket dimension for the rest of his life.'
'Heh, he was poisoned to death, huh. But his strength shouldn't be much less than a Rank-5 Mystic, right?' He raised his eyebrows in suspicion. As for the origin of this pocket dimension? The old goblin knew nothing about it.
Charles continued to read the memories and soon learned how the old goblin became the owner of this pocket dimension.
'He robbed the graveyard and became a shaman with the help of some mysterious enlightenment? Interesting.. Let's see. More than 50 years ago, this old goblin got more curious about their savior and decided to check his graveyard. He secretly moved towards the nearby mountain, dug the pioneer knight's graveyard, and looted three mysterious items.'
'The first one was a ring which allowed him to teleport out of this pocket dimension, the second one was a strange bluish stone, and the final one was an old book.. After becoming a Wind Shaman, he learned more about his soul power and elements and became the first intelligent goblin among the whole race. After years of hard work, he united the nearby tribe, created a small town in the pocket dimension, and became the leader of this goblin tribe.'
'Although other goblins are smarter than the rest of the creatures in this pocket dimension, the old goblin's wisdom is higher. He created many things to improve the goblins' lifestyles and even made some blueprints for building houses. Not only that, but he also led a small army of goblins and hunted Orcs, mutated beasts, and even some Rank-1 Magical Beasts.'
But what surprised Charles was the goblin's other actions.
In truth, the old goblin also realized that they were in a prison cage and searched for a way to move out. It became his true goal later on. First, he researched the things he looted from the graveyard and gained some knowledge of the outside world with the help of the old book.
'After years of research, he even managed to form his soul imprint, left the pocket dimension, and entered the Ancestral Hall. He then tried to get out of the hall but faced an invisible barrier at the end of the path. He returned to the ancestral hall with no other choice and took full control over the pocket dimension. From then onwards, he would occasionally move out of the pocket dimension and waited for anyone to come from the other side.' As he read those memories, he couldn't help but get impressed.
'He is truly a talented goblin.' But Charles also learned that the average lifespan was only around 30 years and felt pity towards the whole race. Even after this old goblin became a Shaman, its life span hadn't improved much.
'His current age should be only around 70 to 80 years old.'
After pondering for a while, he turned around and flew towards the goblin settlement.
Although the current old goblin was nothing more than a memoryless puppet in Charles's eyes, he had some precious possessions of the pioneer knight.
And he needed them at all cost.
'There is a high chance that his diary might have some information about this world and the mysterious plant.' He thought to himself.
After flying for a minute, Charles appeared above the small town, released his wisdom power, and zeroed his gaze on a plank house. Unlike the rest of the houses and huts, this one appeared well-guarded by multiple hobgoblins.
Charles searched the whole house without minding their presence and soon noticed that many goblins were looking at the unconscious old goblin in the bedroom area.
He soon shifted his attention towards the other side of the house and found the three precious materials hidden in the secret room.
A moment later, he raised his hand, released tens of invisible strings, and let them move towards those objects. Soon, he picked those objects, made them invisible with the help of those strings, and pulled them out of the plank house.
A few seconds, three objects appeared in front of Charles's eyes.
He first zeroed his gaze on the brown ring and analyzed it.
'A fixed teleportation ring?' Unlike the other teleportation artifact, this ring could let the user enter and exit this pocket dimension. Even if he wasn't the actual owner of this pocket dimension, Charles could enter whenever he wanted.
Unfortunately, it currently had no use to him.
Shaking his head, he shifted his attention towards the coin-sized bluestone and soon widened his eyes.
'Eye of Insight?' Although there was no further explanation about this tone, Charles sensed the mysterious wisdom essence hidden in the stone and was amazed.
But what made him more shocked was that he noticed a mysterious array circle engraved deep within that bluestone and blocked his [Arcane Eyes] from studying it further!
Charles also noticed a small number of wisdom rules were leaking out on their own and went wide-eyed!
'So, the pioneer knight's Insight Power is because of this stone, huh.' A look of realization appeared on his face.
Then, he took a deep breath and shifted his gaze towards the final object.
It was an old book written in the local language of Faith Realm.
'As I thought, this is indeed the pioneer knight's diary.' He muttered inwardly and put the ring and the [Eye of Insight] stone in his pocket.
After that, he held the old book in his hand, linked his mind with the pocket dimension's Will, and then disappeared from there. Although he loved to explore more about this pocket dimension, he didn't want to waste his time here.
A moment later, he reappeared in the Ancestral Hall and looked at the chamber-like hall filled with scattered books, tables, and bookshelves. Then, he raised his hand, released his wisdom power, and controlled all the books, tables, and shelves to move. Within seconds, the fallen bookshelves started to rise on their own and soon returned to their previous position. Meanwhile, the books also started hovering in the air, moved towards the bookshelves, and arranged independently.
/n/o/vel/b/in witnessed the first publication of this chapter on N0vel--Bjjn.
Still, many ripped books, papers, and broken chairs remained in the hall.
Shaking his head, Charles turned around, picked up the greenish pendant, and wore it over his neck. Then, he took a step forward, walked towards the exit, and left the ancestral hall.
After that, he moved on the gloomy underground passage, walked on the rocky path, and soon arrived in front of the stone staircase.
Following that, he stepped on the stairs, moved towards the end, opened the metallic door, and then saw the basement area of the old house.
'Finally,' Charles muttered under his breath, manipulated the rebirth flame essence, opened the soul barrier from inside, and walked out of it.
In the meantime, a reddish layer of fire appeared in the basement room and soon split open on its own.
On the other hand, Charles walked out from the other side, waved his hand, and closed the soul barrier.
Then, he released his wisdom power, scanned the Darkwell Town, and checked if everything was alright.
'It's already dark outside. Hmm, Bishop Blake and his lackeys are staying in the guest house.. No thieves or outsiders are causing any disturbance to the public. Everything is alright now.' He muttered inwardly and sat on the flattened floor.
Then, he took out his new rewards and placed them on the ground in order.
After that, he took out the [Nature's Leaf] and bound it with his soul imprint. A second later, the greenish leaf turned into a streak of green light, entered his chest, and soon appeared on his skin like a tattoo.
In truth, the original leaf passed through his physical body and attached to his soul form!
Charles also noticed that this strange Nature's Leaf also started absorbing the surrounding nature-elemental energy and frowned.
'Even this leaf acts more like a parasite.' He checked for any anomaly in that leaf for the next few minutes and then shifted his attention towards the greenish pendant.
Among the items he got from the ancestral hall, this one was the most valuable. Although the [Eye of Insight] stone looked excellent, a powerful magical array circle appeared around it and obstructed him from gaining any more knowledge about this stone.
'This magic array circle appears more complex and mysterious. It's better to ask Mr. Runeth's help.'
Muttering inwardly, he shifted his attention towards the old-covered book and picked it up.
After that, he opened it casually, flipped the first page, and started reading the pioneer knight's diary.
