Chapter 577 Effect Of Angel’s Wine
Chapter 577: Effect of Angel Wine
24C Elm Street, Underground District, Miracle City.
It was a normal day at Mary's Milk Bar. Although this bar was not as busty as other popular ones like Wizard's Tavern, around thirty people stayed at that moment and appeared to be enjoying their drinks or eating.
At that moment, a blonde-haired man, around 55 years old, sat on the right-side corner seat and placed his face on the wooden table before him. He had unique amber eyes, a square face, straight and short hair, slightly elongated eyebrows, and a small nose. He wore a long gray-colored tunic made of cotton, loose-fitting pants, and a grey cap on his head.
After a few seconds, he suddenly sat up steadily while leaning on the wooden chair and shook his head.
"Not enough."
"I-I need another glass of Jerez... No, bring me a full bottle of Crimson Brandy here, Michael."
"You still haven't knocked out yet, Gabi? I thought you would stay silent for more than two hours after drinking the bottle of Blue Jerez, though." A young man in his twenties suddenly entered the bar, walked past many drunken customers, and soon arrived near Gabriel's table.
"Hmm? Weston? I thought you went to meet someone urgently. Why did you come back?" Gabriel didn't even look at his face and quietly glanced around before shouting impatiently.
"Michael! Bring me the bottle of Crimson Brandy sooner."
"You aren't the only customer here, Mr. Gabriel! Wait, I'll go to the storeroom and bring the new bottle." A black-haired old man with a hook mustache spoke and started walking towards the bar's interior door. He wore a black tailcoat, a white waistcoat, black trousers tapered at the ankles and had a check pattern, and a white, high-collared shirt underneath the waistcoat, with a black bow tie. He also wore highly polished black leather shoes, white gloves, and, finally, a black apron.
He looked like a high-class hotel servant and had the aura of etiquette.
As Gabriel watched Michael leave the hall, he finally turned his gaze toward Weston and frowned.
"Why are you still standing here? Go and help your father."
On the other hand, Weston shrugged his shoulders, slowly moved towards the opposite chair, and sat on it.
Then, he looked around cautiously and spoke while grumbling.
"I'm not in the mood. Actually, I also want to try the mystic alcohol but my dad won't allow it."
"Haha, that's normal, Weston. Although drinking the mystic alcohols isn't prohibited for mortals, you can't try them until you at least become a Rank-3 Mystic. They are so potent and could harm your body and even your soul. Not only that, some of these drinks even induce lucid dream and transport your soul to a unique dream world. Although it does make us feel relaxed and feel like reaching heaven, it is also an addictive substance." Suddenly, Gabriel stopped for a moment and then added.
"Look at my pathetic state right now. Do you really think I want this kind of life? But what can I do? I can't even forget the past for a moment even after eight millenniums and can only use these alcohols to live in the dreamworld with my loved ones."
At that moment, Weston suddenly thought of something and asked.
"Have you heard of a drink named Angel Wine-?"
"Where did you hear of that accursed drink? Who told you?" Gabriel asked with a solemn tone.
"I just read about it somewhere in a novel book. Do you know what type of drink it is?" Weston showed a confused look and asked.
At that moment, Michael returned from the store room and soon placed the Crimson Brandy on the wooden table.
"Please don't drink it completely, Mr. Gabriel. If you get knocked out, you'll miss the important meeting with your friends at 4.00." Michael said while adjusting his cap and quietly walking away.
Meanwhile, Gabriel grabbed the bottle with his right hand, opened the tab with his mouth, and poured the drink into the glass bottle.
"Before learning about that drink, you should know why everyone call that drink as accursed drink, Weston. It's not about the ingredients that make mages get scared of it, but its effects." Gabriel's tone was serious.
At that moment, Weston's face turned slightly stiff and soon returned to normal.
"What are its effects?" He asked.
"Have you heard of elemental corrosion disease? It's an incurable disease that could affect your whole lineage and make your future descendants' lives miserable. Hmm, how should I explain? Anyone who drinks that accursed drink will get a curse of depleting elemental affinity. It's similar like Mage Curse, but is incurable. Although you won't get affect by drinking it, your children and their children will get affected by this curse and remain as a mortal for the rest of their life. Their elemental affinities will never cross low level and remain to stagnate. How will you feel when your children, grandchildren, grand grandchildren die too quickly while you keep on living like millenniums? It's sick, right?" Gabriel said while taking the brandy glass and drinking it in one gulp.
Meanwhile, Weston's face turned sour. Although he tried to conceal his facial expression, he still slightly showed anger and hatred.
Thankfully, Gabriel was already in his drunken dream and didn't notice the slight change in his expression.
Instead, he poured another glass of Crimson Wine and spoke with a flustered face.
"But there are still some psychos who dare to drink this drink while thinking that its true myth would come true."
"Myth? What myth?" Weston squinted his eyes and probed further.
"Some believed that this drink could cause mutation in the human body and help activate the Human's progenitor bloodline ability. Alas, no one knows the real t-" Gabriel suddenly stopped talking and slowly fell on the table.
Soon, he started to mumble and snore.
On the other hand, Weston quietly watched the sleeping Gabriel for a moment and slowly took the pocket watch before opening the outer case.
'Activating Human's progenitor bloodline ability, huh? Is he talking about High Human's bloodline ability? But isn't Trickster's class help one achieve that stage?'
While muttering, he looked at the time and took a deep breath.
"11.46 A.M"
Within a few seconds, a soulless voice echoed in his head.
[Seven seconds before the array goes disable mode... six... five... four... three... two...one!]
Weston, aka Charles, suddenly extended his right hand, placed his forefinger at Gabriel's forehead, and cast the [Finger of Destruction] spell as the countdown reached one.
Simultaneously, he cast [Soul Shock] and [Burning Thoughts] spells on him and directly incinerated his body. The first reveal of this chapter happened through N//0/vel-Biiin.
Although his consciousness seemed to have entered the Dream Realm, his system pulled his soul and silently extracted Wisdom Essence.
[4 Wisdom Points have been extracted!]
After killing Gabriel, he didn't stay there for a moment and directly escaped by casting the [False Blink] spell multiple times.
After moving more than 500 meters from the bar, Charles finally found an isolated gloomy path and quietly walked in.
At the same time, he looked at the earlier notification and frowned.
'I got 2.3 wisdom points after killing Brooks and now 4 wisdom points. But why did I only got 0.2 wisdom points after killing Violet?' He couldn't help but mutter.
[That could only happen if some external force pulled her soul from the system's grasp without even knowing it, Host.]
'An external force? But I saw her consciousness disappear before my eyes, though. Still, her death was indeed strange. She was a cruel woman who would go on any length to harm me and even my bloodline descendants. But why didn't she kill the millions of parasited people and put the blame on me? Moreover, she even gave away a clue about Asher to me. Wait. Maybe she faked her death?' At that moment, he suddenly thought of his [Rebirth Domain] spell effect and squinted his eyes.
When Mateo killed him earlier, Charles's body, consciousness, and even soul got destroyed and reborn a while later.
'I can't rule out that possibility. There is another thing that seems odd about her actions. I felt like she seems to have looked into my past and even knew about how I made James eat raw meat.'
Indeed, the last dialogue she spoke before disappearing was similar to what he said to James before killing him!
'Was I thinking too much?' He pondered for a moment and soon shook his head.
'Anyway, I don't have time to find the truth now.' He muttered solemnly, shifted his attention toward his Inner World, and started looking at the information about his next target.
