Chapter 20: The kids were growing up
They were all sitting in bed baby talking to each other. Mae noticed that I was awake and a huge grin came across her face and she reached out for me. Ava and John noticed Mae and when they had the reason why they wanted a hug also.
This happened every morning. I took them all out of the cot and I sat on the floor. Adam sat in my lap and Ava and Mae, I was hugging. It was hard to not let them feel left out, but I had perfected the technique over the past year. We ended staying on the floor for about an hour, mostly snuggling and reading stories, which they loved.
When I had finished reading "where the wild things are" for the sixth time, the triplets all toddled off to do whatever they wanted. The rest of the day went by uneventful. I cleaned the house, looked after the triplets and looked at some online courses. I had decided that I needed to get a good job, and the kids were growing up..
wow, I sounded like an old lady when I said that. I was watching Play School with triplets when the phone rang. I jogged to the kitchen and picked it up. "Amelia speaking" I answered "Hello Miss Smith, this is Deputy Holland for the local precinct. I was wondering if you know a young man called John Keller?" he asked "Uh, yes" I replied cautiously.
I asked worriedly "It was for a public drinking offense but he won?t have to appear in court" I sighed in relief. "Ok, I can be there in about half an hour," I said "See you then Miss Smith" and he hung up the phone. I put the phone back on the hook and realized a small problem.
What was I meant to do with the triplets? I couldn't take them to Olivia because I hate her right now, mom was still out of the country and Grace, my sister was in class.
I didn't want to take the triplets to the police station but I couldn't think of anything else to do.. Oh well, maybe I could scare them early but teaching them about what happens if you are naughty. It usually takes me about forty-five minutes to get them all ready and to make myself presentable. I managed to get it done in twenty.
I guess I was rushing just a little tiny bit. I strapped them all into their car seats and drove off to pick up the father of my children, the love of my life from jail.
