Shang Yu looked away from Li Qiao and placed the towel on the stone table, then said in a low voice, “What’s the matter?”

Shang Lu casually sat across from him on the other side of the table and immediately started complaining. “Big brother, I want to break off the engagement. But she keeps harassing me and won’t let me go. What should I do?”

How shameless this man could be!

Li Qiao shot Shang Lu a sidelong glance and was about to say something, but her phone, which she was clutching in her hand, abruptly rang.

Li Qiao uttered a quick apology and glanced at the screen. It was her second brother Li Yan calling.

While she was hesitating whether to answer or not, she unconsciously glimpsed Shang Yu out of the corner of her eye. He was looking down in a relaxed manner, as if he were silently assenting.

Seeing his reaction, Li Qiao picked up the phone right away.

“Qiaoqiao, where are you? Did you meet with Shang Lu?” Li Qiao’s second brother Li Yan asked in a cheerful voice.

Holding the phone, Li Qiao looked at Shang Lu’s smug face and answered halfheartedly, “I saw him!”

“What do you think? Do you feel anything for him?”

There were so many feelings..

Nevertheless, Li Qiao didn’t spill it over the phone. She heard a sudden click and saw a white puff of smoke come out of Shang Yu’s thin lips. Their eyes met again through the swirling smoke.

“Qiaoqiao?” Li Yan blurted, “How about this? Come find me after you’re done with him. I’m waiting for you in the private gallery.”

Li Qiao hung up the phone and stared steadily at Shang Lu. “I already told you,” she said. “I agree to break off the engagement.”

“Are you sure?” Shang Lu was suspicious. He raised an eyebrow and asked contemptuously, “Why did you come here if you agree? And why didn’t you polish your story before telling it?”

Li Qiao sighed as though she felt sorry for Shang Lu and said, “I’m not here for you. Your big brother probably knows better.”

She ignored Shang Lu, who was stamping with rage, and shifted her gaze to Shang Yu’s face. Her throat was itchy for some unknown reason.

Li Qiao guessed that Shang Shaoyan had spotted her as soon as she’d barged into the garden.

Aside from his overwhelming influence, the well-known Overlord of Nanyang had a face stunning enough to draw special attention.

Even the handsome Shang Lu seemed dull and ordinary before his brother.

Shang Yu was sitting upright. His long and narrow eyes were inscrutable, and his features were sharp and pronounced. His domineering and stately bearing, in particular, made him look like an invincible general.

Li Qiao stared at him for a while and flashed a barely discernible smile.

That face was quite attractive!

At this point, Shang Yu flicked his cigarette and said in an indifferent voice, “She’s definitely not here for you.”

“I don’t care why she’s here! I’m going to break this thing off no matter what. You gave me your permission before, big brother. You can’t go back on your word now.” Shang Lu straightened his neck and stared at Li Qiao with wary eyes, as if he were afraid that she would pounce on him all of a sudden.

That being the case, Shang Yu looked at Li Qiao and replied impassively, “Then break it off.”

Shang Lu’s spirits lifted the moment he heard Shang Yu’s response. He said, “Did you hear that? Even my big brother agrees with me. What do you have to say for yourself?”

Li Qiao was relaxed and easygoing by nature, but she was by no means a pushover.

She lowered her head and looked at the faint bloodstain on the stone, then cracked a shallow smile and said, “Mr. Shang Lu, do you know that I have a good eye?”

After that, Li Qiao turned around and walked back to the narrow path.

The moment she pushed aside the palm leaves, she turned her head and looked into Shang Yu’s deep eyes and said, “Nice to meet you. I’m Li Qiao.”

Shang Yu looked even more unfathomable.

The rain stopped. Water was dripping from the eaves of the pavilion.

Shang Lu stared vacantly at Li Qiao’s receding figure and muttered in confusion, “What does her eyesight have to do with me?”

“She has a good eye and can see that you’re not good enough for her!” Shang Yu said solemnly, gazing in the direction of the narrow path.
