Knowing that she was able to properly deal with a major issue, Amber let out a sigh in relief.
She was turning back to return to the castle when she felt Kalix’s gaze on her face. Amber frowned slightly at the discomfort of Kalix constantly staring at her.?‘If he has something on his mind, he should just say it.’?But Amber knew better than anyone else that these thoughts were useless when Kalix was in that state.
“Is there any reason you’ve been staring at m..”
“Mistress, a reply came for the invitation sent to the esteemed daughter of the Freya household yesterday.”
Unable to endure it any longer, Amber was about to directly ask Kalix when Heinreich came in at an amazingly coincidental time and interrupted her.
“Ah, did I interrupt something?” Realizing the strange mood that flowed between Amber and Kalix, Heinreich carefully studied the expressions of his two masters.
“No, perfect timing. The esteemed daughter of the Freya family is extremely important.” Amber directed her attention to the reply. “Did she accept the invitation?”
“The Freya household would never reject an invitation written in the Duke’s name. Count Freya and his esteemed daughter shall be arriving this afternoon.”
Officially, Kalix’s invitation was sent to Count Freya. Even if it was Duke Kalix, sending an invitation directly to an unmarried daughter fifteen years of age was impossible.
As he couldn’t address his letter directly to his daughter, Kalix clearly expressed to Count Freya to come with his daughter. The deeply loyal Count Freya had quickly accepted his invitation.
“Did he say he’d bring what I requested?”
“Yes, he said he would bring two full carriages.” Heinreich nodded at Amber’s excited tone. Though he didn’t know what Amber was thinking, he knew how important it was to her and answered with complete sincerity.
Amber’s face brightened at Heinreich’s response.?‘I can finally solve the food crisis!’?She barely held herself back from clapping and squealing but couldn’t help the smile that spread across her face.
Standing besides them, Kalix stood there with a vacant expression as he stared at Amber’s bright smile.
Though Amber herself didn’t realize it, she was wholeheartedly smiling without a single worry for the first time since arriving in the Eastern Lands.
“Right, then let’s have lunch and prepare to greet Count Freya right away. How many different types of desserts can we prepare for them?” Amber began to give various orders to Heinreich. “Since tea time is scheduled, make sure our lunch is light.” As she gave an order about lunch, she hesitated before turning to look at Kalix. “That’s fine, right, Your Excellency?”
As far as Amber could remember, Kalix wasn’t one to be picky about food. Though she was always worried around him, she could relax when it came to food since he would eat anything.
“I am.. fine with anything.”
“That’s good to hear.” Thinking that Kalix’s response was about lunch, Amber replied without any surprise.
“That’s not it, I..” Though Kalix was mumbling quietly, he shut his mouth at the sight of Amber discussing the tea preparations with Heinreich.
“Then please let the chef know.” Finally done with her discussion with Heinreich, Amber had a light lunch and waited for her guests in the sitting room on the castle’s third floor.
As afternoon approached, two carriages arrived at the Duke of Thales’ castle.
Amber was only barely able to keep her composure at the sight of Count Freya and his daughter.
Count Freya was a picturesque middle-aged man with a dashing white beard and his daughter was a young girl with lovely blonde hair and rosy cheeks.
With Heinreich’s guidance, they entered the castle. As they entered, the Freya servants brought out what Amber had requested from the second carriage.
It glittered and shined brighter than anything Amber had ever laid her eyes on.
Count Freya and his daughter nervously stepped into the sitting room.
