CH 114
A position that required many responsibilities, even if it gave her many privileges, wasn’t what she wanted. Ella’s face turned into disgust even at the thought of it.
“You won’t make a good empress that way,” said Xyle.
She was getting more concerned, and Xyle put oil to the flame. She was drifting into the thought of saving the world that popped up out of nowhere and was reminded of the role of crown princess that she had forgotten about. If she were to focus on saving the world like this, then even if she succeeded in saving the world, she was going to be dragged into the seat of the crown princess.
‘Oops. No way. That’s not acceptable.’
There was no point in trying too hard if that was the case. After saving the world, she was going to live exactly as she did three weeks ago.
“Yeah, that’s the problem.”
She had to complete the two tasks perfectly. Ella answered with a sulky voice that the journey was easy. Her thoughts became so complicated that she didn’t even remember what Xyle asked her. His expression turned dark at her answer. Ella, who insisted that she won’t be engaged, had changed.
“So, you are planning to become the crown princess?”
At his grim voice, Ella turned up to look at his eyes. She finally realized what he asked again, and she wondered,?‘Should I tell him the truth or what he wants to hear?’
He was no longer the Xyle who was always thinking about how to run away. Now, his feelings were so close. If so, she had to respond seriously. Ella then answered honestly, “I’m thinking about it.”
Now, it was wrong to hide from him and think about it. She was a victim for being dragged here against her will, but they were also victims as they had to be swayed by the guests that the world brought over.
“What did you hear from them? What made you change your mind?” It was only after hearing Ella had changed her answer, Xyle saw the truth.
Even though he said becoming the crown princess was her fate, he was waiting for her to protest. He was relieved to see her doing that. But now, seeing her accept her fate made his heart sink.
“I heard that anyone will fall for me if I want it to happen. It doesn’t matter what he or she feels. That goes for you as well. The reason why you’re so kind to me, which is so unlike you, is because I’m the guest.”
“That’s the reason I’m looking out for you?” questioned Xyle with the coldest tone he ever had in his voice. It was anger. That seemed to be the best word to describe the tone in his voice. Ella took that silent anger in his eyes and nodded.
“Yes. You know it too. If I was an ordinary girl, I wouldn’t have gotten into your room on the first day I met you.”
“You’re Evan’s sister.”
“Is my brother that worthy of you?”
“I see. So, you don’t trust my feelings anymore,” concluded Xyle without even the slightest hint of disappointment in his voice. Ella didn’t deny his conclusion. He was right. She couldn’t trust his feelings anymore.
“Right. I understand. I would lose my trust if I heard such a thing too. I can see why you thought that way.”
Xyle nodded, looking as if he agreed with her. But his eyes that looked into Ella began to turn into eagerness.
“Then there’s no other way but to make it an environment that you can trust.”
It was a confident claim. What was he trying to do? Xyle grinned as if he was going to keep his words, and Ella just sat there with a shocked look on her face.
