15 The Well Of The Dead!
Huh?! "Where am I?" I question as I wake up on a sunny land with buildings all around it. I look down at my clothing and I am not wearing my natural black T-shirt and jacket. Rather, I am wearing a jeans and a hoodie. "Huh?!" I look in front of me. Is that... "Mom?!" I look confused. What is she doing?
Mom turns around and looks at me. "Mom, is that you?!" I ask. Mom's eyes widen. "What are you doing in this world?!" Mom asks me. "You aren't allowed to be in here." Mom replies. "You need to go back to your world, right now or else I will be forced to kill you." Mom says. "What are you saying, mom?! Nothing you say is making sense to me right now..." I say. "You aren't strong enough, not yet when your strong enough...That's when you will know...Right now, go back!" Mom says. Suddenly, mom teleports in front of me. I am a 100% sure of it. That was spatial magic and it was fast...Real fast... "Take care, son. I love you." She pushes just like back then and I wake up with that. "What was that?!" I question myself holding my head.
"Oh! your still alive? I didn't expect you to be still alive after having such a huge wound." I look up and there is a girl with purplish black hair, blue eyes, she wears a clothing like she is some kind of beggar, torn from various sides not to mention...She is a demi-human...A mixed species of a human and some other species. Those green scales her neck, hands and leg is a dead give it away. I have always only heard about demi-humans but this is the first time...I ever encountered someone from their race.
I suddenly feel a lot of pain around my stomach area. Tsch! That dark elf did stab me in my gut. "You want some medicine?" The demi-human asks. "You want to help me?" I ask. She nods. "I guess so..." I say. I notice a collar around her neck, I wonder what that is about. As I think about the collar on that demi-human's neck, I hit something with my left leg. I look straight where my left leg is and I see skeleton with some flesh still on it. Seems fresh. I look around and there are skeleton's all around me. Some are rotting bodies whose flesh has been left half open.
"So I am guessing this is where they stuff all king's food?" I ask the demi-human. "Yes, his and mine." She says. "Yours?" I ask. "That is correct, I was about to eat you but your unfortunately alive...And I can't eat humans who are alive..." The demi-human says. "I guess that's my human side." She mumbles. "Anyways, I am surprised you didn't scream or anything of such sorts. You seem very calm even though your wounded." The demi-human says. "I guess, I am not surprised because of how the elf's food chain works." I say. "Interesting." She says and brings out a medkit from by pressing a button on the wall which opened another wall. Why am I not surprised.
"Show me your wounds." The demi-human says. I take off my T-shirt. "It seems your wound didn't hit a vital spot but it's deep and will take some time to heal." She continues. She begins to bandage my wound. "Hey, I haven't asked yet, what's your name?" I ask. "It's Rina, I don't have a second name." She's kind of sweet. Looking at the way she's behaving now, I could never guess she ate some of these dead people here. "What is your name?" Rina asks me. "Well, it's Henry Marshal." I smile at her. "How can you smile like that when your in the well of death?" Rina asks me. "Well, since I was a kid someone thought me to be calm and composed in any kind of situation or else your brain tends to make measure mistakes and I don't want that to happen." I grin at Rina. Rina keeps her eyes away from mine. "Your a weird person." Rina says to me.
"Why are you helping me though? There has to be a catch to it right?" I ask. "I am helping you because I don't want to see you die or any other person who is kindhearted die." Rina replies. "What makes you say I am kindhearted? For all you know I could be a very cruel tyrant ruler or some stuff like that." I say. Rina chuckles. "Hmm?" I looked confused. "What makes me think your kindhearted is that you didn't run away after taking a look at me." Rina says to me. "Normally, people will shout out that I am a demi-human and I am a demon and I am trash...All kind of crazy stuff but you...You actually aren't even afraid of me, not even a bit and your eyes they give me a look of a kind person." Rina continues as she completes bandaging me. True...With what she says demi-humans are treated like lowly beings and that's definitely a slave collar...So I am guessing the dark elves made her a slave huh.
I get up holding my gut. "Rina, that collar. It's a slave collar isn't it?" I ask. "Huh?!" Rina's eyes widen. "Tsch!" This is kinda pissing me off...How could someone make a girl whose so kind a slave?! Demi-human or not, she needs to get out of here. She has her own rights to live freely. Those slave collars...They are made for creatures that are untameable. Not to turn a demi-human into a slave. Through what I know the shockwave in the collar is made using psychic science. So whenever a master's command is disobeyed, there is huge amount of electric wave that travels throughout all body of the certain person wearing it.
"Rina, do you want me to save you?" I ask to Rina. "Save me...Don't be ridiculous, I am a demi-human...No one cares for us...We are just...Slaves..." Rina's voice stutters and cracks as she speaks. "And plus...I am happy here. I live a happy life...I don't...Want to be saved...At least not by you...I don't want to see you die...Not when, I saved you and...And...I am trying to help you escape..." Rina says. I sigh. "Well, forget about my escape because your coming out with me or else I am just going alone to fight those elves again and rescue my friends who need help." I say to Rina. I plan to go back anyways. "But why...Don't you want to leave?" Rina asks me. "Leave? Don't be ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful you saved me but...I have a job to do has a Knight and I will complete it at any cost or else...Someone will be very angry at me." I say to Rina.
Rina looks sad. I smile and pat her head. "Don't worry, I will save you no matter what. It's the least I can do for all the bandaging you did for me you know." Rina looks at me. Her eyes tear up. "Please...Do not risk your life for me...I want to say it...I want to say that you don't risk your life for me...But your eyes just do not divert from your target...Why...?! Why...?! Why me...?! What if something happened to you?! What will you do?!" Rina cries out loud. "Nothing will happen to me because I will be sure to be alive no matter what." I say to Rina. "Now, are you going to help me or not?" I ask Rina. "Huh?!"
After that conversation, Rina leads me close to the exit. "How are you going to help me if your not even strong enough as of right now?" Rina asks me. "Well, I will figure something out." I reply. I say that but to be honest, I really don't have a plan. Rina gives me a pouted face. "What?!" I ask. "You don't really think your going to be reckless and give your life, are you?!" Rina asks me. "Nope, I still have the title of the best knight of the country waiting for me. For that, dying? Can't do. I have stay alive while I save people and like I said I will figure something out." I say. Rina sighs. "How are you even standing after taking such a critical hit?" Rina asks.
"That's because not only my outer body but my inner body that was built to withstand blows like that." I say to Rina. "Inner body?" Rina asks. "Well...It's something called chi manipulation but before my mother could complete my training on chi manipulation..." That happened...Tsch! "I am sorry for your mother, may she rest in peace." Rina joins her hands like a priestess. I faceplam myself. "She's not dead." I say or at least I believe so. "Oh..." Before Rina says anything else I interrupt her, "Rina, let's not speak about this right now. My squad is in trouble and I need to help them..." Someone walks out of the shadow in front of us as we speak. "Is that you, Henry?!" That's Casey...What's she doing here? "I found someone I didn't expect to find over here." Casey smiles.
"So...What are you doing here Casey?" I ask. "Well, let me tell you what happened after you guys left us there like dead bodies." Casey says to us.
