53 Second figh
Leon didn't wait too much for his battle, the opponent wasn't that hard beat either. Leon was trying to hide his identity as a titan in the battles, so he just used his mana to battle, and as attacks he only used lightning because he didn't want to show that he was specialized on multiple elements.
The yin and yang were abstract and wasn't really suitable for attacking. He didn't want to use fire, because most of the maguses would choose it as their foundation, and because of that the second most used foundation element was water which was opposite of fire. After that would come earth and the air was the fourth. The lightning was a good choice of the foundation element, but the maguses wouldn't choose it due its uncontrollability, with fire, they could forge magical devices and it also had a good attack force. The lightning was only good at attacking and didn't have any defense and didn't have any auxiliary properties, so it was the fifth most used element for the foundation of the maguses.
The maguses mostly would choose elements as their foundation, but there were also exceptions. Leon learned from the library in the school ruins, there were some maguses who would use emotions as their foundation and attack with them as other kinds of attributes.
After beating his opponent, Leon looked at the sky to the gods, they weren't showing their pressures any more, but they were watching the battles. Leon was confused for their focus on him at the start, but the gods didn't focus on him after that. Leon knew there was something about him that made the gods focused on him, he didn't know specifically what it was.
["Why did I reincarnated with my memories intact? Why did I reincarnate to Aroan world?"]
He didn't know the answers. He wasn't a good person, but he wasn't a bad person either. He didn't find any treasures like the protagonists in the novels, which would protect his memories, he didn't even have a body when he reincarnated.
["There is something."] thought Leon. He was sure that he had something, but he couldn't see or feel it, but the gods have seen it. He didn't know what they saw, he didn't know whether it was bad or good for him, but it was there. Leon thought what it what it could be, he didn't have much knowledge about magic, he was new in the area of magic, he could say that the thing that he has an ability to pass someone from the reincarnation circle without losing their memories.
The only thing that he could think of was something magical, a magical thing made him not to forget his memories while he passed through the reincarnation. It might be a person or an artifact, but he didn't have any guess. Leon put the distracting thought to back of his head and focused to the battles. He couldn't figure out, so he could only focus on the battles and learn more about the fight of maguses.
While he was watching the battles, he sensed someone was looking at him. He turned and saw that Locke was looking at him. He couldn't discern his facial expression from the distance, but he could feel a battle intent from him. Leon was capable discerning battle intent and killing intent after he learned [Asura Domain], so he was sure that Locke didn't have any killing intent towards him, just a battle intent.
Leon didn't know why Locke was eager to fight with him, but he could tell that Locke didn't seem to like the nobles. He might have his story about a noble, but Leon didn't care. Leon turned his head and watched the battles while patting Hermes' head. He was sitting with Cale, Theo and Casper.
When the turn came to Casper, he directly forfeited, Cale did the same. They didn't have any interest to compete with others. Casper solved the misunderstandings with his brother, so he didn't have any reason for to battle. Theo also forfeited, from his gains and the things that he got from Casper, already filled his quota for the next head.
Leon was watching the battles and when his turn came, he would go to the arena and would win without an obstacle. Leon's mana pure due to his poison pearl, so his spells would be more effective and destructive, even without his experience for the battles of maguses.
The participants eliminated as the time passed, but they didn't leave the sub-space. They were also watching the battles. While they lost the chance to get the blessings of gods, they wanted to see strongest magus in mana gathering stage. Some of the spectators had noble lineage, so they wanted to hire them, the others were just curious.
Leon didn't gather the attention of the spectators, he was winning, but he was only using lightning. Some of the participants were using two elements and some of them even three. A magus who was using one element wasn't rare, so they didn't think highly about Leon.
As the battles progressed, Leon also gained experience about the battles of maguses. When the battles were coming to an end, Leon didn't even watch the battles. He just closed his eyes and replenished the mana that he lost in the battles. In his mana pool, the four elements were rotating and they were looking like they were sewn with lightning. Under the elements, yin and yang were making a rotation, but they were rotating in the opposite direction of the elements.
Leon's mana pool was different from the rest of the maguses. When a magus only focused to the fire, their mana pool and mana would be dyed to the fire. When a magus focused on the two or more, their mana pool would be separated, so the mana in their body. But in Leon's mana pool, there was only pure mana aside from the elemental seeds and yin&yang diagram. They were condensed to the seeds and diagram in his mana pool.
It had both advantages and disadvantages. Leon couldn't make his spells faster, but it also made his mana free from any elemental contamination, thus making it purer and his spells more powerful. But this disadvantage wasn't that bad for Leon, due to his titan body. Even he couldn't cast his spells faster, he would dodge the attacks or welcome them with flesh.
As he was focused on replenishing the mana, he opened his eyes because of the notification of the system. It was the last battle that he was going to fight. After that he would get the first place and have the right to ask anything of the gods. He already thought what he was going to ask of the gods.
The spectators were also looking at him. They didn't think highly about him at the start, but as the battles progressed, they changed their view about him. It was true that he didn't use any elements aside from the lightning, but he was good at reading movements of his opponents and dodge the attacks. They thought, Leon was good at fighting, thus viewed him as a battle magus.
When Leon arrived the arena, he saw Locke, who was looking at him with battle intent. Leon didn't talk, he didn't have anything to say to Locke. He might become a magus, but he didn't have any chance against him. Leon wasn't experienced about the battles of maguses, but from the experience that he collected from the corpses, he had theoretically knowledge about it. And with watching the battles and battling himself, he digested the knowledge and practiced them.
Leon also noticed that, Locke didn't lose his strength after he became a magus from his fights. But that wasn't going to be an advantage against Leon.
"How was it? Have I qualification to battle with you now?" asked Locke while looking at Leon.
At first, Leon didn't understand why he was asking that, but further thinking, he understood. When they were about to battle in the academy, Leon asked him "Why?" when he choose him as his opponent.
"I never said you didn't have qualification to battle with me." said Leon. He was surprised to see someone who was a warrior, to challenge to a magus. While it was true that the maguses didn't have much power in the close combat, but they wouldn't give opportunities to warriors to come close to them. Leon also didn't want to explain his reasoning to Locke, even he said it, it would seem like artificial not his original thoughts.
Hearing that, Locke shook his head,
"I know you could also use earth and didn't use other elements while fighting. I want you to use your full power." said Locke.
Leon nodded, he didn't think that Locke didn't forget that he threw him from the arena with an earth spell in the academy.
Leon and Locke didn't talk any more and waited for the notification of the system. When the notification came, Locke immediately closed the distance. He was planning to overpower Leon from close combat like how he did with his previous opponents. Leon tapped to the ground with his foot and the earth around him started to act like a treadmill to Locke. Leon didn't want to drag the battle and attacked to Locke with lightning.
Locke also wary of the lightning and tried to dodge it, but Leon dragged him to the lightning with earth which was under Locke. It was a short battle, when the battle finished, the girls came to Locke and feed him with pills and look at Leon with hostility.
Leon wasn't bothered with their gaze and looked at the sky. The gods descended. Leon didn't feel the power when they first came, but he knew that the gods were powerful, so powerful that he couldn't even lift a finger when they wanted to do something to him.
"You've gained the right to ask to us anything you want, but beware you only have one chance. What do you desire?"
