Chapter 124: Successful Escape Part 2

The only people that Elizabeth allowed to touch her were her father and Bernard, but even then, she hated physical contact and that was simply because it caused a weird sensation in her body that made her feel uncomfortable.

It caused her a weird tingling sensation all over her body that made her feel extremely uncomfortable, but in the situation they were in, Bernard had no choice but to carry her.

At that time, it was still really early in the morning, but some stalls were starting to open and as the Gobe Country was quite densely populated, it was usually very crowded during the day.

Bernard knew that it was only a matter of time before the assassins caught up to them and couldn't run for much longer, so needed to find another way to get to the royal district without being found by the assassins.

He suddenly stopped and after seeing a rundown carriage that was driven by a farmer, headed towards it with Elizabeth in his arms.

Elizabeth had covered her face with a veil and had worn long and loose clothing that didn't reveal her figure or much skin, so he wasn't worried about her beauty causing a commotion, which it usually did.

Withdrawing a pouch of spirit coins, Bernard intimidated the driver with his aura of a cultivator and handed him the pouch.

"You will hide us in the carriage and take us as close to the royal district as you can. You mustn't stop under any circumstances and you mustn't draw any attention to this carriage or what is in it" instructed Bernard.

The driver was shocked with the amount of spirit coins that Bernard had handed him which was worth many times more than the food that he was carrying, and did exactly as he was instructed.

The driver began driving towards the royal district at the centre of the Gobe Country and tried to stay calm as he wondered why the old man carrying the female would pay him so much to take them to the royal district.

Bernard was right in deciding to take a carriage that wouldn't draw much attention and was being led by such an ordinary beast, as it was unlikely that the assassins would check such an ordinary and run down carriage and made it harder for them to find them.

Although the journey would be slower, it would be much safer and they would be hiding in plain sight, which was the best option for them currently, especially since they were in a foreign country where they didn't have any connections.

Their entire plan was contingent on the royal family knowing about the Graham Family and agreeing to help them, because if they didn't know who they were or cooperate, who knows what they would do to them.

However, Bernard didn't have any other option and was most concerned with Elizabeth's safety and well-being.

"Elizabeth, eat something, everything will be alright" assured her Bernard as he passed her an apple that was in the carriage.

"No thank you, I don't feel like eating anything right now" declined Elizabeth who still felt guilty and nauseous from all the death that she had seen, which was ultimately caused by her existence.

Elizabeth sat in the carriage quietly, contemplating about her life and everything that had happened to her over the past few days.

She would rarely leave her family grounds without her father and loads of guards, but for the first time she wanted to leave the country for a short while to explore. She had been restricted by her father because of her weak and frail body, but her father promised her that once she was 15, she could leave the country.

On her 15th birthday, Elizabeth planned to leave the country for a short while and her father couldn't stop her as that was what he had promised her. He was too busy to go with her, so she took Bernard and many guards with her.

However, as soon as she was had left the country, she was attacked by a group of bandits that were clearly expecting her and aiming to capture her.

It was a sudden and planned attack, but her guards protected her and fought the bandits and while they did so, Bernard seeing that they had no other option and that the guards wouldn't be able to hold off the bandits for much longer, escaped in the carriage with Elizabeth.

Somebody was out for her and she had been tracked, attacked and followed and each time barely being able to get away, relying on others to fight and sacrifice their lives to help her get away.

Bernard couldn't turn back to the country, so needed to find another safe place for Elizabeth to stay until her father found her, as it was too dangerous for her to travel around the continent without somebody that had the power of an Elder of the Graham Family to protect them.

The closest country they could find was the Gobe Country, that when compared to the country that the Graham Family was situated in, was weaker and smaller.

They headed towards it and hired anybody that was willing to protect them, using their large amounts of spirit coins as a reward, and all the people that they had come across, were willing to do so after a taking glimpse at Elizabeth's beauty.

They had managed to escape from every pursuer apart from the skilled assassin trio that were adamant about killing her and receiving their lucrative award.

Elizabeth wasn't a cultivator, so needed to eat well and sleep every day like an ordinary person would need to, but hadn't eaten much over the past week, causing her to have lost quite a bit of weight.

Although she still looked beautiful and healthy, it was only because of her youth and because she had taken quite a large amount of medication and valuable pills when trying to treat her constitution, which had helped her to sustain her body.

While Elizabeth was deep in thought, Bernard was recovering his energy in case he needed to run again or attempt to fight in order to protect his master.
