95 Accord & Fate

At 10th day of the month of Rocto, the year 1661, the biggest catastrophe ever recorded befall all of mankind.

Many kingdoms and their surrounding areas within the human controlled territories lose close to 75% of the available mana within the area, while it's land turn infertile and gray.

By 27th day of the month of Rocto the adventurer's guild, one of the super power within the continent, assembled and deployed three reconnaissance team into the corrupted areas. These areas are the former major power and territory holder, these three area are the kingdom of Welsburg, the kingdom of Restage, and the dutchy of Xysperia.

By 28th day the month of Nova, the higher council of the guild starts to grow impatient and restless. the people demand answers from them yet none they could give, within the first week they entered the corrupted areas the guild had lost contact with the three teams.

Even with a small field team deployed, they still could not figure out what caused the changes nor how come a few areas within the human territory are unaffected by the corruption nor does the reason why it could not spread pass the barriers bordering the human territories with the other sentient races.

30th day, the month of Nova, the year 1661. The guild manage to re-establish contact with one of the team yet instead of a long awaited good news. By the words of the 3rd team leader, they are falling back towards the beast kin territory with heavy casualties and a horde of mutated monsters trailing them.

It is unclear whether the horde attack and the explosion that turn the forest by Welsburg southern border into a giant crater was coordinated or coincidence but it is clear that whatever is within the corrupted area does not welcome their presence.

It took a day of riding without rest for the third team remaining units to reach South River City and another day to fortify it as best as they could.

By daybreak, the seemingly endless waves of monsters collided with the city defensive trenches and walls. With strategically placed traps and obstacles, the city defensive manage to hold out for three days. But that is the limit of what the walls could withstand.

At evening of 2nd day of Disha, the gates of South River City finally fall to the relentless assault of the monsters.

Many would expect cries of despair and death as the monsters enter the city and ravage everything in their path, but no such things happened here. Behind the shattered a single man stood with folded hands, his silver mane and hair majestically flare along with the cold wind of winter and snow.

In a relaxed manner the lion kin stomp his foot and the ground rises, creating a chokehold with him blocking the entrance.

With a spit, the lion kin take his stance and face any that comes his way, letting not one pass by his defense.

Seeing the man actions, the dispirited soldiers and adventures rise back to their feet. Their spirit lifted and their hope rekindled. Taking position both up on the walls and on the uplifted earth, they assist in whittling the number of monsters.

By the end of the day, the once endless waves are no more but two piles of broken bones and flesh. One blocking the choke point and the other as a new makeshift gate, preventing the remnants of the monsters outside from entering.

The lion kin, Leonardo Varius, Whom once an SSS rank adventurer, accepted none of the praise the city official and nobles gave him. Saying it is not to protect them but to protect his family, nothing more and nothing less. Of course many are dissatisfied with the answer but none stop departing figure.

Clearing the remnants of monsters outside did not take long, in a week time the monster horde was no more but the after battle clean up was another matter with piles of rotten flesh and bones blocking the gate.

But unlike the victorious battle of South River City, the same could not be said on other fronts.

With no part of the 1st and 2nd reconnaissance team surviving to warn them and no ample time to prepare nor a great figure to support them, Hydrangea City and Polum City falls to the horde in less than a day's time.

But even with their fall, both Hydrangea and Polum City Major managed to sent out news of what happened, prompting some to prepare their defenses while some choose to ignore them, feeling their current defense are enough to deal with normal monster horde.

Year by year, the monsters push through defences against defences towards the north and northeast. Each battle won making them smarter, stronger, faster, but most of all, better equipped with some sort of siege weaponry. The more time pass the more these monsters shows signs of intelligence, some even smarter than an average person.

By 23rd day of the month of Ai, year 1669. Only 12% of humanity territories remains, while the bordering barrier between race lay in a stalemate against the Blood army, a faction that seems to be controlling the monsters at will.

The appearance of this faction was quite unexpected as the races had taken the monsters to just be the usual monster horde even if they are smarter.

With the monsters having a master it changed the gameboard-

"Accord, please stop, you bore me."

"... Fate, shut up as I narrates."

"No, u shut up. I do what I want. Oh wait what's with that one over there?"

"... That girl? What's with her?"

"I'm asking cuz I thought you know, now tell me why can't I sense any date string from her!"

"... That's because she has none."

"What do you mean that silver has no fate? Everything has a fate!"

"... Just keep watching, you'll find out someday."

"Tch, I hate it when you keep the future records from me. Now I'm mad I won't talk to you, hmph!"

"... Suit yourself, now where was i."

....

....

....

"... I can't get the feel back, I'll read another passage."

...

...

...

"Hey Accord, what's that guy doing?"

"... I thought you're not going to talk with me?"

"I changed my mine, now tell me what's that guy doing!"

*Sigh* "... That guy is another no fate eh, tho this one does have connections to luck, bad luck that is. That guy is training within his core, it's a shame he got put into static by Sven but if everything goes as it should be then someone is fated to wake him up in time."

".. Hey Accord."

"... What is it?"

"How come there are mortal without Fate? Aren't deities, concepts, and aspects the only one without Fate?"

"... That is a question I have no answer myself but I believe there is no need to know such things, let the creators do their thing while we do ours."

"... Fine, but Accord why are you not describing what we're doing?"

"... Do you want me to read your three sizes?"

"Alright, please forget I complained."

...

...

...

"Is Time and Space at it again?"

"... Yes, they are fighting again, we have another planet bites the dust thanks to them."

"Poor planet, I'm just glad I'm with you."

"... You're annoying."

"Awe I love you too."
