290 Inspiration: Please, Save My Earth
2. The princess's name back then was Princess Nasha. I decided to change into Arreya because I think Nasha sounded too childish. I already had the name Kaoshin from 20+ years ago.
3. I wrote this story just to join a writing prompt contest in Webnovel about an overpowered main character. I only wrote my second English book so that Webnovel would give me features so I can boost my first book, "The Alchemists". I don't know what was wrong but my first book was treated like a stepchild by Webnovel in the past. It never got featured. Other books get 20k readers after one year, my book only got 3900 readers.
However, as the story grows, my love for "Finding Stardust" grows too and it's no longer a vehicle just to get features. It is, after all, my baby too. I am so happy I started writing it 10 months ago.
4. The whole story afterward was inspired by two things. The song "Rule The World" by Take That that became the OST for the movie "Stardust" (from a fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman), and the manga called "Please, Save My Earth" by Saki Hiwatari. That's how I got the title and Emma's family name. Stardust (since I saw the song video clip).
5. If you can find the manga/comic, I'd suggest you read it. "Please, Save My Earth" is a really special book. The art itself is not great, but the story is AMAZING. It has inspired so many great stories, just like how it inspired my book here. If you know Sailormoon the famous comic and anime, the author said that her book was inspired by "Please, Save My Earth" too.
SAVE MY EARTH tells the story of a girl who suddenly woke up with a superpower to control plants (when she sings, the plants would grow healthy and beautiful). She started to have dreams about 7 young people who were friends and seemed to be stranded on the moon.
When they finally met in the real world, they realized they were reincarnated from 7 researchers who were sent from their planet to search for a new livable planet since their own planet was dying. These 7 people were the best experts in their fields: i.e., machines, animals, medicine, plants, etc.
When they were on that mission, suddenly they received news that their home planet was destroyed and they were the only citizens who survived.
With 3 women and 4 men, they were stranded on the moon with a broken engine. They set up a base on the moon while they tried to fix their ship and decided how they should move forward.
However, before they could go to the Earth, they got a mysterious illness and one by one they died. They could only see the earth from their moon base while waiting for death. They all wished they could visit the Earth if they were given the opportunity in their next lifetime.
I am not spoiling the story for you.. hehehe. It's just the rough plot. If you decided to read the book (I think even if you cannot find the physical book around you, you can definitely google it and find it on some manga sites).
The main character in that story is Sion. He was so powerful and could do teleportation, telekinesis, and kill people from a distance. He died 9 years after all his friends died and when he was reincarnated, he became 9 years younger than all of them.
It was heartbreaking on his part, because that means, when he had his next life, the woman he loved was already 9 years older than him.
Sion was trapped in the body of a seven-year-old boy with his old memory, while the love of his life was already 16.
The book's main focus was on how Sion took revenge on the people who were responsible for his ordeal and finally accept the fact that he and his love would always be 9 years apart.
Anyway, I love Sion's character so much that I decided to use his name for one of my male leads in this book, but I tweaked it a little and made it into Xion. His personality is very much like Therius though.
6. In that book, their home planet was described to look like Earth but with a more advanced society and technology. They also have some people with superpowers and they had their own religion. That's how I got the inspiration to build my universe in Akkadia.
It just feels so natural to have a planet with many similarities to our earth and writing the story becomes so much easier for me.
Of course, I put my own ideas and colors on my book, and the final result would be unique, but I just want to give homage to the book that has given me so much inspiration and the story that would always be so close to my heart, "Please, Save My Earth", by naming Xion after Sion and let you know that the book was the source of inspiration for some of my writings.
