294 The Challenge 1
Only then did Marci smile.
"Good. When you are with me, you must be eager and diligent. I will not forgive you if you fail to win the challenge," said Marci.
Emma raised her hand.
"May I ask something?" asked the girl.
Marci nodded. "What do you want to ask?"
Emma crossed her arms over her chest and gave Marci a probing look. "What made you volunteer to be our class mentor? Is there a special reason? What will you gain from this?"
"Hahaha ... why do you have to ask that?" Marci asked in return. "Are you suspicious of my good intention?"
"I'm just curious, why a respectable senior like you offered to be our mentor. So, if you have any hidden agenda, I want to know so we can get ready," said Emma calmly.
She was already suspicious when she saw Marci glance at Ylsa several times with a faint smile on her face. She suspected Marci chose her class on purpose to annoy Ylsa. But why?
"Oh ... you're right. I chose you on purpose, not because I am kind or because I was impressed by your class," said Marci. "I just want to piss off Ylsa. If I can make your class win the orientation challenge, she would pull her hair out of annoyance."
"Oh .. why would Ylsa be annoyed if we won the challenge?" asked Emma again. "I haven't seen what the connection is."
"You'll find out later," said Marci. "If you don't realize it later, then that means you're stupid. It is not my fault if you are dumb."
'Gosh, this girl sounds a lot like Marlowe,' thought Emma to herself.
The way Marci spoke was just as curt as Marlowe. Emma was curious to know what happened if those two met. Would they insult each other, or would they jointly insult other people?
Emma cleared her throat. "All right. Fair enough."
"Good if you understand." Marci clapped her hands and told all the class B students to come closer. "Now, I want all of you to let me know what type of powers you have, and at which level? We need to map out our strengths."
Haria raised her hand. "I've been tested before coming here. I'm a cryomancer, but I don't know what level I'm at."
"Hmm ... is that so? How about the others? Do you know what level you are at?" Marci cast her gaze to the other students.
Most of them shook their heads.
"I don't think everyone knows for sure what level they're at," said Emma. "Isn't there an initiation of new students before class starts to determine their power levels? Later in the second semester, classes will be divided according to these levels."
"That's right," said Marci. She held her hands behind her back and studied Emma closely. "You seem to know a lot."
"Oh ... I just read that somewhere," said Emma.
Miri nudged Emma and added. "Did your boyfriend also go to the academy? Ohh... how romantic, to be the alumni of the same school with your significant other. Reunions would be lovely for you."
Emma rolled her eyes at Miri's words. Somehow Miri had to mention something about Emma's boyfriend, out of nowhere. It had nothing to do with them, okay?
"I don't want to answer because that's none of your business," said Emma indifferently.
Marci chuckled at Emma's indifference. "Very well. Who you are dating, is none of our business. Then do you know what kind of power you have and which level you are now?"
Emma nodded. "I am a herbomancer, level three."
Marci looked impressed. "That's great, for a herbomancer. For a first year student, your level is very high, by the way. When did you find out you have a magical power?
Emma knew that most of the mages in Akkadia discovered that they were special humans when they were little, some even as babies. She also suspected her power awakened when she was still a child.
Emma remembered when she was a child, she used to fly up the apple tree to pick some apples, and that made her father worried sick.
However, because Arreya locked Emma's memories for over a dozen years, she never used her powers until she was 17 years old.
Then .. what number should she give?
"I don't remember for sure. I think my parents discovered that I had power when I was three years old. But I hardly used it. I only actively used my power and trained it a year ago," said Emma finally.
Since meeting Xion and Therius, Emma had the opportunity to train. Since she arrived in Akkadia and later married Therius, Emma had always been diligent in practicing at the palace. Of course, with the guidance of a very caring teacher, Emma's abilities improved sharply.
Her classmates looked at each other. It's true what Marci said. For a first-year student, having a level above one was considered extraordinary because it meant that their powers had been trained, even though usually a mage born among ordinary people would not understand how to control their powers, let alone train it.
In academia, they would learn all of these. For gifted students, their levels would increase significantly during the three years they studied at the academy.
Like Marci. She would be a Lvl-6 mage when she graduated, and this was very rare. Most of her peers started at Lvl 1 or 2 and would graduate at level 3 or 4 only.
"Wow .. you didn't say that you are at Lvl 3," Miri commented to Emma. "That is so great! Unfortunately, your power is not that coveted offensive powers."
Emma coughed at what her classmate said. She didn't understand why people looked down on herbomancers so much. Wouldn't all powers be equally valuable if they were used according to their function?
"All right, that's enough," said Marci, raising her hand. She then pointed to Miri. "How about you? What is your name and what is?your power?"
Miri smiled broadly. "My name is Miri Callister. I am a necromancer. My level ... is still one."

From the author:
If you receive a notification that this book is ending, don't worry, it's a false alarm.
What happened was, I was testing something in Webnovel. So, the thing is, I have exhausted my quota of 20 books. I cannot write anymore. BUT Webnovel staff told me I can write beyond 20 books IF most of my books are completed.
I already had 14 books marked as completed, but the button to "create a story" still doesn't work. They still insisted that I can write a new book if most of my books are completed.
So, I today I took a drastic decision and marked 18 books as completed to prove their words, and see if I can really add a new book, beyond 20. My test came back, showing that they are WRONG.
I really need the system to be upgraded and allows me to write more books, because after Finding Stardust dan The Cursed Prince end, I have a few books I already plan on writing. Webnovel will hold their biggest writing competition in March, and I hope I can join.
PS: I'm so sorry, I still haven't been able to draw a raffle for the giveaway for people who purchase the privi back in October and November for Win-Win. Gosh.. I really need to make time for it. It's so hard for me to commit to doing such things (admin-related) coz it's me doing so many things at the same time :(.
The problem is the submissions were all over the place. Some people sent through Instagram, some through Facebook DM, some through email, etc. My mind would just freeze and I can't focus on getting them together. huhuhu.. I'm so sorry for the delay. I will definitely update you when I have done the raffle.
To tell you the truth, I haven't even sent invoices to my clients from August 2020 because I can't bring myself to sit down and do the admin work. So, I'm eating away my savings now until I can send those invoices and get paid.
