Primordial Remnants

10 Target Practice

Anilas head occupied with different thoughts as she just nodded her head without saying anything.

Rais couldn't keep his eyes open as his eyes started to have more frequent blinks as he had a slight headache. He looked extremely exhausted from aftereffects of the curse. He slowly walked back to bed with his eyes closed and went back to sleep right away. He forgot to tell his mom about what he had seen outside. Rais had informed Anila about his dreams before but she was lost as she didn't understand them. At first, she thought it was part of the curse but later she realized she never had the same experience.

Anila almost never tired or sleepy but her worried face made her look distressed "The rune I drew can't contain the curse anymore. The curse is more effective on him. .He is still young, and his body is more reliant on the runes. He can't resist the curse with mana or anything like I been doing. Should I use the rune seal crafted by the Grandmaster?"

She abandoned her thought "It's too early maybe I should find a way to contact mom."

She had thought about leaving this town but it difficult to find anywhere more isolated and safer than northwest Ranatelia. She would have to travel a great distance and use long-distance teleportation which would give away her location. The only reason she is safe now because the last time she long teleported she had help from others. It didn't give away her place as she didn't actually use any teleportation.

Anila walked outside and set on the corner of the hip roof. Beside her was a thin cylindrical extension with blooming flower at the end. On the top of the extension set a beautiful cutout of a peacock. She gazed at the night skies through the haze like yin energy. The sky cleared of any clouds for the first time in months as colorful lights from four moons reflected in her eyes. The sky was always cloudy as the weather remained wet throughout the year. It was rear to feast eye on the clear sky.

The sky looked pitch-black like an endless abyss hungry to devour any light around it and within contained few orbs of light and rare flashes of the heavenly phenomenon. The worlds wear hidden within the endless void and extremely far away from one another and were never visual from one to another. Anilas eyes looked fixedly at the moons one after another. The faint blue light from Rup was always her favorite. According to the legends it was named after the eldest daughter of Zarieun and Illipra. The smallest of the moon the Urine glowed with a silver crescent. The Nuur looked magical with jade green color. Like Rup, they wear also named after Zarieun daughters.

Eios, named after the only son of Zarieun had a slightly purple hue. The brightest of the moon was Eith was absent from the sky. This made Anila realized month of Fire had come to end and the month of Earth had begun.

Anila remained on top of the roof for a long time. The yin energy at night made the surrounding colder, but Anila paid no attention as she remained unharmed.

The next morning Rais started his practice again. He practiced every morning and afternoon for the next 20 days. Rais had mostly practiced his archery skills and trained his body with few exercises his mom thought him. His mom also made him study various runes and taught him the geography and history from different periods.

He wanted to make fire as Dinna did but his mom refused to teach him. She said it was too early for him to practicing casting magic spell. He had to build up his magic resistance and know how to control it and then use it to strengthen his body.

When he was practicing, a rooster was about to walk by him. He grabbed on to the rooster without looking at it. It started to breathe fire towards him. He stood for a moment and realized he was worse than a chicken when it came to using true qi and controlling magic. He couldn't believe he was jealous of walking piece of meat.

"Mom when can I start learning magic spells. You said magic energy was easiest to control, so why do I have to wait so long. Look at this Mr flame berserker, you said they wear domesticated not to breathe fire but he still can."

"Their body is different from human and other mortals, so you shouldn't surprise you. Don't rush to learn anything you have all the time in the world. It betters to build a solid foundation first. In the future, if you have problems with advancing your power. It will be a lot harder for you. Even if you water the top of the tree, you won't get any fruit because the roots were already messed up."

Rais listened to his mom and went to collect all his arrows.

"That said you can start condensing your foundation from now, but I can only teach you a spell if you hit the center of the target ten times with your remaining arrows."

Rais clenched his fist in excitement, but he remained calm.

Rais attempted his first shot and it ended in a failure but, the next shot perfectly hit the center. He had twenty arrows he already shot seventeen times only seven hitting the very center. Other arrows were close but they didn't make it.

Rais looked at the last three remaining arrows with a frown.

"You have improved a lot, but you still need some time. No one becomes a marksman after just a few months of practice. It takes years to master the skills. Don't be discouraged keep practicing and you will get better."

Anilia had a smirk on her face.

Rais put the bow to the side as his smiled and walked back inside the house. He took out three of his mom kitchen knives and threw them with all his power and all three of them hit the dead center of the target.

"I win this one."

Rais started laughing "yes I get to learn magic spells."

'As I was thinking, I am way better at directly throwing things.'
