Primordial Remnants

8 Unwanted Dream

The deity on the altar slowly dissipated and turned back into the silver flame. All the mermaids and merman lifted their head and looked behind them. They saw Anila who kept her distance to show respect for their prayer. She even took down her very thin magic barrier around her to show her humbleness as a mortal. They saw the divine water was responding to her. Her eyes had become bluer than the sea. Her hair slowly floated from the weak water current.

"Your eye turn blue upon contact with water?"

Anila ignored her curiosity and instead asked her a question " when will your mom be back?"

The mermaid girl didn't mind at all and respectfully answered back

"Mom had left exactly four years ago after a huge event that shook the world. She left the border protection to me and left those sea deity stones to help me out. Something big is going on and she went to a meet with all the leaders. She said she may not come back here again."

Anila clenched her fist and anger could be seen in her eyes. she obviously knew about the world-shaking event as she was part of it.

A mermaid from the crowd shouted at Anila seeing her angry "We have an agreement with the throne restorers and other tribes on the surface. You are not to cross into the Night Pearl Settlement"

The mermaid princess wanted to punch the mermaid for being idiotic but she stopped herself seeing Anila talk again.

"I am not part of any of the faction. I came here expecting to see a mermaid queen to spar with without knowing she left for an important meeting within the mermaid territory. Please excuse me for barging in, I will leave right away."

The princess felt embarrassed as she looked down "Please forgive us for our rude welcoming and please also let us know if there is any way we can be of help to you?"

Rais who was sleeping soundly suddenly was inside a place where his whole body was hurting and he couldn't move. His vision had blurred from hazy surrounding but he knew someone was laying next to him experiencing even greater torment. This fleeing was not new to him because he had been in this place before. He had a series of dreamlike vision he didn't understand. It felt like he had experienced this before but he could never remember.

He was going through agonizing waves of pain through his body. He had been able to take control of his consciousness before and imagine destroying himself to get out of this torment. Even though he found a way to wake up he stayed because he always wanted to see the body lying next to him within the vision like dream. The tried to turn his head but he couldn't breathe anymore as his lungs started burning. His blood started flowing in the opposite direction. His body slowly became engulfed within flames. His eyes felt like needles stubbed through them as he screamed in agony.

He couldn't take it anymore as he imagined himself getting stabbed by thousands of arrows that came flying through the horizon. Every traces of his body burned away into nothingness.

His suddenly arrived within a grassy field. he laid down on a slope under the shade of a tree. In front of him was a small river that brought tiny breezes with it. He closed his eyes instead of trying to open them this time. The wind on his face felt great. The weak rays of the sun created a tad of burn on his skin as waves of good fleeing run through his body. He placed his hands on his eyes and they became wet. He looked at his hands he saw his hands were full of bruises. He didn't know why he was crying but he knew he was training for something.

He could hear his heartbeat in total silence and he knew he was about to leave this place. He was reluctant to leave but he felt bone freezing coldness run through his body. His eyes and the tears within them became frozen.

Suddenly he remembered being stuck inside ice for thousands of years as he was eagerly waiting for something and then he saw a golden spear piercing through his abdomen as blood poured down. He didn't look at the front at his attacker but instead, he turned back. He saw thousands with black wings coming to protect him but failing to reach him in time. He tried to remember their faces but he heard someone say sorry within his head. He had been here before only by remembering some events then he woke up but he had never heard this. It was the first time someone saying sorry to him as he heard a noise of chains within his head. He didn't know what triggered the change but when he woke up there was making all over his right arm.

He saw blood coming out of his old injury. A drop of blood fell towards the ground and became a frozen bead and before reaching the ground it burst into to sparks. He saw light coming through the crack of the window. He knew it was still night but he didn't see his mom. He opened the window and shock run through his body. He could clearly see everything outside like the day. He saw black smoke was floating throughout the world. He knew he was seeing the yin energy but he didn't know how he could see so clearly. It could not be the moonlight as clouds covered the sky.

Within the darkness, his eyes shined like a piece of amber crystal. He looked in the distance. He saw few tiny diamonds shaped winged creatures slowly flying within the woods. He looked around and saw tiny lesser spirit creatures flying around. He only ever saw them in illustration and as for the diamond-shaped creatures, he didn't know what they ware. He became slightly excited but then he saw his marking spreading from the right hand to other parts of his body. His body started hurting he looked towards his neck and saw two out of the four curved runes within the necklace destroyed. He heart jolted and he felt some changes within his body.
