In Another World With Magic!

23 Chapter 23

The store was strange in appearance. It had the same look like the others but every other store had a name but this just had a red sign with a single white stripe down the middle of it. I entered a room filled with shelves all with stacks of clothes on them.

"Welcome. How may I help you?" A voice cried out from the back of the store.

I looked over to see a counter that split the room in half and behind the counter was an elf woman with green hair. I walked over.

"Um, I was told you sell clothes."

"That is correct. Do you happen to know what you're looking for?"

"Honestly, I have no idea."

She became excited as a smile appeared on her face. "That's great!"

"It is?"

"Yes, I think I know what will fit you perfectly."

"You do?"

"Yes, wait here a moment."

"Ok?"

She ran off to the back of the room and searched a wooden box that was lying on the floor. She picked up some kind of black fabric and came back and put it on the counter. On closer inspection, it was a black coat with some kind of animal fur on the inside and some kind of cloth material on the outside.

"Try it on."

"Ok if you insist." I put it on. It was a perfect fit for some reason... The sleeves stopped exactly at my wrists and it fell just before my knees.

"Honestly I never thought I would find anyone who could actually wear it."

"Find someone who can wear it?"

"Yep. I guess it doesn't look like it but it's actually a magic item. Every time I have asked someone to try it on it shocks them with lightning."

Shocks with lightning? That's just like that time in the library...

"What makes it magic?"

"Hmm... Well, when I got it the man I bought it from was holding a flame to it and nothing happened. I'm guessing it was made to deflect fire magic."

"So how much do you want for it?"

"How much do I want? Honestly, I was going to throw it away anyway so by taking it you're helping me out. I wouldn't ask for anything that is worthless to everyone but you."

"Are you sure?"

"Yep, I'm sure. Feel free to take a look around to see if you like anything else."

"Ok, I will do."

I walked to the part were the shirts were hanging on shelves and had a look. They had grey and a green shirt that looked about the right size. Everything else was too large for me. I picked up the grey one and walked over to where they had pants on a shelf they had brown or black. Well, brown really would go well with my coat so I picked the black pants and walked back to the counter.

"I will take these also."

"You will? Ok, that will be 96 silver coins please."

"Will this work?" I gave her a gold coin."

"Yes. Wait here I will go get your change."

"Don't worry about it."

"Are you sure? 4 silver coins are quite a lot of money"

"Then consider it a tip."

"I see."

"Oh yeah. Do you have anywhere I can change my clothes?"

"Yes, there is a changing room through that door." She pointed to a brown wooden door at the other side of the room. I went in and changed my clothes. I walked back to the counter.

"Do you need anything else?"

"Well... Is there anywhere I can get rid of these?" I held up my ripped up clothes.

"Yeah, I can dispose of them for you."

"Ok, thanks a lot." I handed her the clothes and took my leave.

I entered the marketplace but it seemed quiet now. Everyone had disappeared but I could sense the presence of two groups of people nearby. I walked out into the center so I couldn't be cornered. It was still quiet.

"Come out. I know you're there." I called out.

"You heard him, boys."

A group of Orcs came out from an alleyway. There were three of them all bigger than that other Orc. So I'm guessing they are sender stronger people in order to kill me or something.

"You don't look so tough... Do you expect me to believe you beat Galn? I will tell you what. If you tell us who actually beat him up I will let you live."

"So just as I thought. You're here to kill me... Then I guess I don't have to feel bad for this."

I walked towards him as he unsheathed his sword. He poked it forward slowly thinking it would scare me. I pushed the blade down into the ground causing the stone to fly up from the force of the sword hitting the ground. He let out a nervous laugh as I grabbed his shirt with one hand. He grabbed my arm and tried to make me let go. I picked him up by his shirt and threw him like a baseball into the wall of a shop. His body hit the wall and twitched for a few seconds before becoming lifeless.

"What the fuck!? You little shit!" The other two orcs both pulled out their swords and charged at me. The first orc swung his sword towards me as hard as he could but I dodged by jumping over his head. The second orc was lined up waiting for me to dodge and then swung his sword as I was in the air. I was unable to dodge and kicked towards him instead. The sound of flesh being ripped apart echoed through the street.

"Did you get him?" The first orc asked.

He turned to see a broken blade drop in front of him and clatter on the floor. He looked to his friend to see him stood still. He looked up to see his head flying through the sky and blood splatter against the wall behind him.

I took my sword from my back to unsheathe it. The blade started to absorb the light around us as the blade became blacker and blacker to the point it looked like an endless abyss. The orc turned red with rage and charged me flailing his sword all over the place. His movements were unrefined and it was clear he only depended on brute force. Sure ok, let's make this even then... I swung towards him as hard as I could mimicking the enraged orc. There was a loud deafening bang as my strike exceeded the sound barrier. His body was split in two and hit the ground in two different places. I feel bad for who has to clean this up.

My ears were ringing and I stumble a little. I sat down for a moment to give my hearing a chance to return to me.

The sound was still muffled but I could make out the sound of armor moving towards me and fast. I don't want any more trouble with the guards... Well, I probably should have thought about that before slaughtering three orcs. But it was self-defense. Maybe I can explain that to them? It was too late to consider anything else. My clothes were blowing in the wind as two dragons were hovering above me. It was that silver one from before and also one that was a golden color...
