Chapter 21 - Sound of Gunshots In the Church
Chapter 21 Sound of Gunshots In the Church
Xu Mo’s words caused the church to become silent. Provide inspiration to Susie on the
spot?
Irina also looked toward Xu Mo. Xu Mo, who claimed to be a servant, seemed to be more composed than his mistress. Moreover, even though Irina didn’t trust Susie completely, the latter was clearly the one with the upper hand in the argument with Mia. Therefore, Irina only watched quietly as the situation developed.
“Alright.” Irina nodded, willing to give Xu Mo a chance.
Mia also looked at Xu Mo who was next to her. Xu Mo smiled and said, “Miss Mia, you mentioned a few days ago that you heard the music ‘My Soul’ in your dreams. I wonder if it’ll provide Miss Susie with some inspiration.”
Mia naturally understood Xu Mo’s intention and looked at him, a little surprised. This also verified her guess that Xu Mo might really be the one who wrote these music pieces. She had asked out of curiosity before, but Xu Mo didn’t admit to it. He only said that he had heard them in his dreams.
“Mn.” Mia nodded vigorously.
“Go for it, Miss Mia.” Xu Mo smiled and encouraged her. After that, Mia walked out, carrying an instrument and going up next to Irina. At this moment, she seemed to have entered the world of music that she dreamed of.
Her fingers strummed the strings, and beautiful music that didn’t lose out to ‘Windy Hill’ echoed through the church. In just an instant, it brought everyone into a beautiful scene that was different from the one ‘Windy Hill’ had brought them.
Hence, Susie’s countenance changed, turning a little grim.
Irina revealed a surprised expression and immersed herself in the music.
“Miss Mia, if you were to continue playing, how would Miss Susie be able to continue composing?” Xu Mo interrupted Mia, his voice filled with sarcasm.
Irina seemed to not have enough of the music, but Susie said, “This can’t prove anything.”
Xu Mo took a look at Susie who still didn’t give up. He said, “Miss Mia, what about that ‘Castle In the Sky’ that you like the most?”
“Mn.” Mia nodded. She continued to play the instrument, and the beautiful melody of ‘Castle In the Sky’ started dancing around. As a result, the entire church was silent, and Susie’s countenance turned extremely grim.
This time around, Mia stopped even without Xu Mo’s reminder. She didn’t wish for Xu Mo’s music to be plagiarized.
The church was so quiet and no one said anything. There was no need to guess who was the one in the wrong. How could Mia only have provided “inspiration” when she could produce such beautiful music pieces?
“What beautiful music. Thank you, Miss Mia.” Irina broke the silence in the church and applauded. After that, a round of applause sounded up in the church, and it seemed that the previous matter was forgotten.
“It seems that there’s no direct relationship between one’s character and their family background. Father, will God forgive plagiarizers and accusers?” Xu Mo asked the priest. He had clearly not forgotten about it.
The priest then looked at Susie. The latter lowered her head and apologized, “I’m sorry Miss Mia. Although I perfected Windy Hill, the complete version of the initial music still came from Miss Mia. Miss Mia is the initial creator of this piece.”
“What do you mean by the initial creator?” Xu Mo found it funny when he heard Susie say this. Did she mean that she was the subsequent creator?
“Since Miss Susie has apologized, God will forgive everyone who knows their mistake,” the priest replied to Xu Mo’s question earlier.
“Miss Mia, let’s go back,” Xu Mo said to Miss Mia. He felt that this church was a little disgusting
“Mn,” Mia nodded. She then carried her instrument and headed back.
Bang..
All of a sudden, a gunshot rang out and many people in the church screamed. Everyone’s heart skipped a beat and they turned to look over. They saw a staff member falling over.
Bang!
Another gunshot rang out, and another person was hit by a bullet and fell.
Screams filled the air and everyone in the church hid under tables. Mia had even thrown away the instrument she was holding, covering her head and moving to the side to hide. Her body kept on trembling.
“Elder Brother..” Yao‘er was scared and started crying. Xu Mo carried her and squatted down, covering her ears with his hands and consoling her in a soft voice, “Elder Brother is here. Yao’er, don’t be scared.”
Elsa hid behind Xu Mo, leaning against him. Her hands uncontrollably grabbed onto Xu Mo’s clothes. She was also trembling non-stop.
“Xu Mo,” Mia called out, sounding a little anxious.
“Miss Mia, stay there and don’t move,” Xu Mo said calmly. Elsa, who was behind him, grabbed onto his clothes even more tightly.
“Miss Elsa.” Elsa’s coachman, Cooper, came darting over from under the table, getting closer. Xu Mo sensed that Cooper was exceptionally calm. He didn’t seem like a simple character. At the same time, Xu Mo expanded his perception and saw two figures heading over to the church in huge strides. There was another sniper hiding outside.
What Xu Mo found surprising was that he had seen one of these two men before. Moreover, he had seen the person twice. One time was in the black market and the other time was on the streets not long ago. However, this time around, the person was wearing a mask.
Who on earth was he?
Was the hidden sniper that lady who had managed to shoot down his meteor dart?
The two men entered the church, standing on the left and right respectively, leaving the space in the middle empty and not blocking the sniper’s vision.
The man Xu Mo had seen before was wearing what he had on when they met in the black market. He was wearing leather armor and metal boxing gloves.
The other man had a slightly shorter and smaller stature, holding guns in both hands and playing with them. He was also wearing a demon-face mask.
“Stay here and keep watch. I’ll go search,” said the man in leather armor. He then walked forward and spoke out to the people in the church, “Everyone, don’t move. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee your safety.”
no
As he spoke, he headed toward the passageway in the middle. Xu Mo saw someone under the table holding onto a gun; it was a middle-aged man in formal attire. His body didn’t move and he didn’t make any sound.
The man in leather armor walked very slowly. When he passed by the middle-aged man, the other party suddenly raised his gun and shot. The bullet hit the man’s armor at his waist area. He moved a little but wasn’t hurt.
Screams rang out and Xu Mo covered Yao`er’s ears hard with both hands.
“Bullet-proof vest!” The middle-aged man’s countenance changed. He stood up and aimed for the person’s head.
Bang! However, the man with a demon-face mask at the entrance shot the middle-aged man straight in the head, and the latter fell into a pool of blood.
Crying sounds rang out, so Yaooer was no longer the only one crying. Many young ladies were also crying in fear. The man in leather armor paid them no heed and continued forward.
“Ah..” A surprised cry rang out and Mia was pushed out onto the passageway. She then looked at Susie, who was next to her, in horror. She happened to be hiding next to Susie, and the latter had pushed her.
At that moment, Xu Mo felt his heart rising to his throat, and cold killing intent appeared in his gaze.
Susie had done it intentionally.
“She’s only here to attend the concert.”
Xu Mo placed Yao`er onto the floor, while he raised his hand and stood up, showing that he had no hostility.
However, the man with a demon-face mask at the church’s entrance fired a shot at him. The bullet went straight for Xu Mo at a horrifying speed. But the instant the other party pulled the trigger, Xu Mo already moved. His body instinctively leaned to the back.
Bang! A gunshot rang out and the bullet brushed past his face. Xu Mo felt pain on his face, but his body felt very cold. Although his reaction speed was very fast, it still couldn’t be compared to a gun. If he hadn’t perceived that the other party was going to pull the trigger in advance, he’d probably have died here.
“Hmm?” The man with a demon-face mask let out a surprised cry. Was it a coincidence?
“Elder Brother!” Yao`er cried and hugged Xu Mo’s leg, raising her small head to look at him worriedly.
“We’re just here to attend the concert.” Xu Mo looked at the man in leather armor. He kept both hands raised and didn’t move, keeping his gaze straight to the front while estimating their distance in his mind. If the man fired, he wouldn’t be able to make it in time given his speed.
His psychokinesis wasn’t strong enough to change the bullet’s trajectory either.
Right now, Xu Mo had his perception activated to an extreme. He could hear every person’s breathing.
The man with a demon-face mask then took a look at Yao`er and didn’t continue to shoot.
“Move away!” The man in leather armor looked at Mia and reproached.
“Hurry up and come over,” Xu Mo called out, and only then did Mia return to her senses. She ran over to Xu Mo’s side and squatted down.
“Xu Mo.” Mia’s voice had a crying tone and sounded a little hoarse. She almost caused Xu Mo to die earlier.
Xu Mo carried her and placed his finger in front of his mouth to make a shushing gesture. Hence, Mia only leaned against him and didn’t say anything. This wasn’t a good time to talk.
A few more gunshots rang out from outside the church. Xu Mo saw that some people wanted to enter but they were killed by the sniper. No one could get close to the church. This place had become a deathtrap.
At this moment, Xu Mo sensed that a group of people had appeared on the church’s second floor. All of them were holding guns.
“What’s going on?” Xu Mo mused. Why were there so many people in the church with guns?
They appeared in his vision and raised their guns to aim below.
“Watch out!” The man with a demon-face mask raised his gun and shot out. At the same time, he lay low and hid behind a table. The man in leather armor, on the other hand, continued to charge forward.
Bang, bang, bang.. The people who had appeared upstairs kept on firing. The man in leather armor hid in their blind spot and leaned against the wall.
“Miss Irina, hurry up and go upstairs.” The priest called out while also running for one of the staircases on both sides of the church. Instantly, everyone ran frantically for the stairs on both sides. The situation was a mess.
“Let’s go.” Xu Mo carried Yao‘er and also charged together with the crowd. Both Mia and Elsa followed behind him.
“Can you do it*?” The man in leather armor paid no heed to the fleeing crowd but shouted outward.
“I’ll take care of it right away,” replied the man with a demon-face mask. He then charged out suddenly, being as elusive as a ghost and very fast, firing consecutive shots with both guns he was holding.
Bang, bang, bang, bang.. Every single one of them was headshots, and four consecutive people who were upstairs were killed. The people in the church screamed and ran upstairs, but the sniper outside didn’t shoot them.
“Can I do it*?” asked the man with a demon-face mask to the man in leather armor.
“Go and ask Sister Die*,” replied the man in leather armor.
“I don’t dare to do that.” The man with a demon-face mask shrank his head back and looked up. After that, the man in leather armor walked out and said, “There isn’t much time left. Let’s get to business.”
“Mn.” The other party nodded.
The two of them then headed upstairs as well.
[1] Sister Die’s full name is Ye Qingdie. At =leaf, =green, the butterfly.
