25 Truth can be sharper than thorns
One year later....
I grabbed a water bottle and rushed outside from my house to see sir Damen. Excitement aroused in me like fireworks, each flowing inside my body. Today was the best day of my life, and I wouldn't let anything or anyone ruin it. It was the beginning of June, when we, the Enigmars were to go to a meeting with my parents and I hoped that I can come along and see my beloved family once again. It's been a year now that me and Damen have been together, but we still had the old feeling for each other. Hatred. One thing that could never change between us and it probably never would.
When I was her at the Enigmars for the first time, my selfishness and pride had almost killed me on my first day with Damen, he whipped me, beat me, made me stay awake at nights for five weeks and starved me. He stopped a week later and made me swear that I wouldn't answer him back again and do as I was told.
I vowed. Because I couldn't take much more of the horror and fear. He parents didn't stop him, they let him do whatever he liked, even if were to take my life away, they wouldn't care, because I was still a stranger who didn't belong in their family.
Damen was with Blackwel his horse, tightening Blackwel's saddle. Damen raised his eyebrows at me when I came in a view.
"Good morning, Marissa," he said and brushed his hands together.
"Good morning, Sir Dmen," I greeted. I gave him the water bottle and he took it and kept it in his supply bag.
"Today is one the amazing days ever, isn't it?" he tipped his head back to look at the sky, where the sun was rising. It wasn't even seven a.m and I had to wake up early to help Damen pack up and because I maybe allowed to go too.
I nodded.
"Lovely indeed," I said.
He glanced at me and his lips curved into an evil smile.
"Looking forward to seeing your family again? he narrowed his eyes. My face fell slightly and I stared at the ground.
"Can I- come with you?" I hesitated. He threw his head back and let out a mean laugh.
"I would love to say yes, but unfortunately, only the males are invited in," he smirked. I didn't protest, I just nodded my head that I understood his point.
"Have a nice day, Sir Damen," I looked back at him, but he was busy with something. I left him so that way I won't disturb.
I walked to the garden behind the house and fell on my knees under an apple tree. I one year I had to lean to control my tears and to keep my mouth shut. But banning me from seeing my family did turn my lips into a sob. The sun had now fully appeared in the horizon.
"Madame?" said a small voice but i recognized it. Alina, the maid for my room and also the only person I liked in the house, because she was there for me when Damen had heavily bruised me. SHe was so shocked when she entered our room, but I was glad she did because Damen stormed out, but I was still dropped dead on the floor Alina quickly brought an ice pack and slowly kept it on my arm which had gone from blue to purple. She then had always looked out for me and it always made me wish sometimes that it was Damen.
"Yes, Alina?" I croaked.
"Oh, Madame, Don't cry!" she panicked and knelt down next to me and lightly hugged me. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand.
"What is the matter, Madame?" she asked softly. I smiled a little and shook my head.
"Ah, Madame I know you to well when your hiding something," she chuckled. I gave up and told her and she understood the situation.
"Sir, Damen can be like that, but I know he doesn't mean any of it," she assured. He doesn't mean any of it? What is she talking about?
"Wh- what- wait so all of this is an act?" I frowned. Alina gulped.
"Maybe, but there is more to Sir Damen that you never noticed." she sighed. More to it?
"What? Tell me," I whispered, she looked at me with intense eye and said, "He's a vampire"
