Chapter 449
449 You own me a favor for saving your life
“Master Biro told me that something happened on Paradise Island. He also mentioned how the exam was over. He instructed me to help with retrieving all the students safely.” Ollie explained. He looked at Vincent and continued, “Since my friend and his wife were participating, I tried to look for Vincent first.”
Vincent got up and approached Ollie and Melissa.
“They weren’t difficult to kill, but I somewhat used Force Shock and overexerted myself. I managed to beat the other two with difficulty because of that.” Vincent explained.
“I know how it feels, friend. I overexerted myself many times until I got the hang of it. Using Force Shock is easier than controlling.” Ollie lowered to one knee and asked, “Lady Melissa, can I take off your shoe to wrap it with a bandage?”
“Okay.” Melissa gave her consent.
“Ollie, what happened to the four you just mentioned?” Vincent was curious to know if someone had rescued Jun Ye Rim or if she was still waiting for help.
“Master Biro told me how most of the strong villagers of Paradise Island are helping with the search and rescue. The other villagers are keeping an eye on the students arriving on the island and making sure they do not disturb the operation.”
“Fortunately, as for your elf teammate, a small group of villagers arrived after I killed two of the strangely skinny Great Yok Boars. They should have given her aid and triggered the emergency command to send them to their island.”
[That’s great. But I wonder what is happening in our cabin? I don’t think Lilith, Nick, and Clair will want to leave...]
.....
[Wait! So many things happened that I almost forgot. The one who set the trap is with them!]
“Melissa. Remember to own me a favor for saving your life and tell everyone how I took a lot of potions and used fire and explosive materials since they were too strong and too many for me to handle alone. I am a weak student, after all.”
Vincent then looked at Ollie and continued.
“Ollie. You stay with Melissa while I hurry back to my wife. Melissa’s scheming teammate lied to me, and I think she has something to do with what happened. Not to mention how she was the only not to get hit in the back of her head like the other five.”
“I owe you one. I will lie about what happened and only tell my father the truth.” Melissa agreed.
“Here. Take these two low-quality potions I keep as spare. One is a minor regen, and the other is a minor stamina regen.” Ollie placed two potions in Vincent’s hands with a smile. “Family comes first. Now go and leave Melissa under my protection.”
[Ollie is really a great guy.]
Vincent opened the potions and drank both at the same time. He activated Overheat, but the duration wasn’t going to last for long. He took a sprinter’s form and sprung forward with all the energy he had left.
Ollie, “How are you feeling now, Lady Melissa?”
Melissa, “Why didn’t you go to help him?”
Ollie, “My friend is capable of overcoming hardships by himself. That is how people grow. That is how Vincent gets stronger when I am not looking at him.”
Melissa, “How people grow...”
“Lady Melissa. Melissa!” Ollie saw Melissa faint. He looked in the direction Vincent left and hoped fate didn’t play tricks on him.
Ollie completed bandaging her ankle. He lifted Melissa and used his academy card to teleport to the academy. Later he took her to the infirmary with haste to receive medical attention.
*Pocket Cabin*
Vincent arrived and had less than a minute left of Overheat. Kazumi went to survive their surrounding while Vincent shouted, “Everyone. Leave the cabin because urgent something happened!”
The door soon opened. Lilith approached Vincent with a worried expression.
“Vincent. What happened? Did Jun Ye Rim or the others get hurt?” Lilith’s words proved how a Great Yok Boar didn’t attack the cabin. Her words were filled with worry and anxiety, the same expression she had before Vincent left.
Nick and Clair exited the cabin next. They saw Vincent and asked a similar question.
“First of all, what happened to the bitch? The one who begged our help to find the others?” Vincent asked with a harsh, hoarse tone. Killing intent followed his words, and it gave Lilith, Nick, and Clair chills.
“What happened, Vincent? Melissa’s teammate? She left a few minutes later if you are talking about her.” Lilith answered.
[The coast is clear. There are no traces of boars nor any villager in sight.]
‘Everyone is safe...’ Vincent felt his body become weak when his wife and two teammates were safe. He fell on his bum, and Overheat’s duration ended at the same time. He wanted to close his eyes and rest after what happened today.
“Vincent!” Lilith, Nick, and Clair exclaimed. They helped him go inside.
On the other hand, Zero remained rooted in the same place as it was before. Lazying without caring for anything other than mutated blood.
After Vincent sat on a sofa, he explained what transpired and what he and Kazumi assumed.
How Melissa’s teammate acted suspiciously when the five teens walking with her got hit at the back of their heads while she did not. Nor did she mention anything of such happening while begging for help. Her innocence was questioned with this alone.
However, that was the tip of the iceberg. Five weakened Great Yok Boars mysteriously appeared nearby. Vincent defeated three, and Ollie defeated two. If there were more, Vincent didn’t know.
Lilith, Nick, and Clair agreed with Vincent that this coincidence is too much to call such. It was easy to guess how this was planned, yet what happened wasn’t the job of one person alone.
The million-dollar question was how this happened when each team was being watched by a village security guard of the elite core.
Someone knocked on the entrance door not too long after. After Nick opened his view was greeted by a small group of villagers.
“May we have your consent to enter the cabin? We need to investigate anything unusual. This cabin was never here, so we need to also know all the details on how it appeared here out of the blue.” One of the villagers requested.
Nick turned his gaze at Vincent and asked, “What do I do, Vincent?”
“Let them in.” Vincent agreed after Kazumi went to take a good look at the people waiting in front of the door. All of them were wearing ordinary clothes. An attire nobles do not wear.
The villagers entered and inspected all the cabin. Questions about where was the fifth member soon arose.
Lilith, Nick, and Clair looked at Vincent. After having no choice, Vincent retold what happened with many parts about what happened, and his accomplishments left out.
“Understood, Lord Vincent Lionheart. If you do not require our aid, please follow us outside, remove your property from the forest, and go back to your team’s island. The students on Paradise Island are slowly being asked to leave.” A villager said before escorting the four members of team ten outside.
Later, the group of villagers watched the cabin disappear with their eyes unable to blink and their mouths open. They saw Vincent casually pick Zero from the ground and teleport away.
“Wa... what just happened?” Many of the villagers mumbled.
*Team Ten Island*
Vincent with Zero in his hands. Lilith, Nick, and Clair returned to the island.
Lupa and Plow greeted them. Both looked as if they were waiting for their arrival.
“My mate. You returned!” Lupa lept on Vincent and hugged him. *~Sniff~* Lupa took a long whiff of Vincent’s scent to recharge her energy.
*Pho* Plow begged for attention as well. She went over to Lilith and rubbed her head on her leg.
“Ahem. Enough of this. Is the elf Jun Ye Rim here?” Vincent asked after trying to get the clinging Lupa off of him.
“Yes. The human Maria brought her here. Sister Ester and Iris are with her.” Lupa responded. She took a step back, winked at Vincent, and requested, “Can my mate tell me if I became stronger?”

[The bones of the legs are as hard as iron. Their susceptibility to damage is greatly reduced.]

“Your stats have improved, but what kind of training did you do? How did you gain the Iron Leg trait?” Vincent asked out of curiosity and worry.
“I trained really hard, and I became stronger, hehe.” Lupa boasted. She was so excited that she took off her shoes and shapeshifted into combat form.
Vincent, Kazumi, Lilith, Nick, and Clair stared for a while at the pair of white-furred legs. The size of her legs slightly increased like what happened to her arms, and her standing form also changed.
Lupa now stood as if she tiptoed halfway. The lower legs covered with fur looked different, as if her bones slightly altered to that of a wolf. Lupa’s legs look quite similar to that of a werewolf.
